Let me begin with inital contact and consultation was amazing. I am also going to explain my one star review throughly because Brooke no longer answers my text or calls. Brooke came out to our home after contacting and paying a $300 consult fee. I paid the fee and asked her to come out after researching designers and between the 2 I picked her knowing she was going to be hired. In other words not wasting my $300 fee. Initial calls and communication up to the appointment were great. After the appointment she sent me a proposal and I asked specific questions as far as making sure everything I ordered included her handyman to put the pieces together. Ex. Ceiling fans, TV placement, light fixtures, curtain rods, and assembly of all furniture. She reassured me yes all included. I paid 1/2 ... $1050, for her “assistant” to pull from Wayfair and a couple other sites. I ordered EVERY single piece she sent me to make sure we were getting the complete look she designed. I had questions here and there. Seemed like maybe more than she like because I was constantly told over and over she was with other clients and basically I am taking up her other clients time and she’s not getting paid from me. I was under the impression we had open communication and every single time I reached out she was too busy. I never knew when the was not busy or when the “right time” was. Although she claimed she tried to help me with whatever but I felt she was very annoyed. Me finding similar pieces on my own because some were out of stock and I did not want to “bother” her. After I ordered everything and received a table she picked out not paying attention to the type of wood it was made out of I informed her we would return the table and entertainment center and WE would look for something more durable for our family of 7. I needed a real wood table for durability and long lasting. I found it and ordered it. I also found someone to build a custom built entertainment center for the same reasons. She did refer someone who was 6k dollars more than another well recognized company. We are 2 weeks in and please be aware of this. IF YOU ORDER FROM HER WAYFAIR ACCOUNT DO NOT EXPECT TO RETURN ANYTHING AND GET HELP. Til this day she has not verified me to be able to talk about the items I purchased not to mention items that were not even delivered therefore I am still waiting on a refund from Wayfair totaling over 2k dollars. They won’t help me because I am not the account holder and neither will she. This is one of the many problems I have had. As I mentioned after ordering I was assured handyman would be able to put it all together. Handyman reaches out which by the way is great. This is where Brooke gave up. After telling the handyman all the things I expected to be done here he advised me after 8hours I would be charged directly from him. WAIT! What? Can I please get clarification? First it was handyman was coming out the day of styling. Now he’s coming out before and I am suppose to tell him what needs to be done but only have 8hours. 8 fixtures, 85 inch tv mounted, furniture assembly, not happening in 8 hours. I text Brooke several times and once again told she was with clients and I’m bothering her. Then the excuse was she felt like she no longer is “managing” the project. Well can you please tell me why? I thought 1. Trust 2. Communication is the most important factors in hiring an interior designer. According to her this was but she never delivered. Her response was I have returned EVERYTHING to wayfair and she has lost control. I returned 2 items and replaced the exact 2 items with my preferences. Her electrician never reached out as promised. After this it was silent. I demanded to know what the plan was for her handyman and never got straight answers. I did get an email stating I was basically a bother to her the whole entire time because she was too busy with other clients but at the same time I’m trying to figure my own days and her plans because they are so confusing. She advised she would be sending me a 50% refund and is no longer interested in my project. Although I told her I am not satisfied with 50% as she is the designer quitting the project. So not only am I stuck with a garage full of Wayfair items picked out, I can not talk to wayfair regarding my 2k plus dollars for non delivered items, she has quit with no explanation and no responses, but she did tell me I received an invoice several several times and never paid it. I admit I misread the invoice as I was supposed to pay the day of styling which I was under the impression the day the handyman was coming out but she would not communicate clearly with me therefore, I had not paid the 2nd invoice. I honestly only received it once. I would think after sending an invoice to a client 6 times like claimed you would at least ask if I received it. I am very upset and disappointed in myself because I read reviews and never ever expected to be “the one” but in all honestly I think Brooke under quoted me not expecting me to order everything therefore the handyman was needed for much longer and she mishandled the entire project and gave up. So please beware before picking Brooke.Jul 5, 2020VerifiedBrooke MacNicol Design's reply
Our jobs are done with great organization and communication due to the high demand of jobs we manage. We set meetings to review your project. We hope you can respect that because when we set aside time to work on your project we are all present and not working on someone else’s. This is simply how we operate. After several major changes, and additions we stated that we need to revise the contract because you added projects that would take additional time. You wanted to stay within the original price structure yet change the project requiring more time from us. I, Brooke personally source and design all of our projects so it seems like there was a drop in communication regarding our practices. Wayfair has let us know multiple times that the orders you canceled prior to them being delivered have to be shipped back to their warehouse and checked in to receive refund, they will definitely be refunding you but this is common business practice. After threatening texts we were advised to cease communication. We hope you are able to find a designer moving forward that fits your needs.
Brooke completely exceeded our expectations. She was prompt, prepared and a wealth of knowledge. While we engaged her expertise for our exterior design, she also shared some great ideas for our interior space that we will discuss with her once our current project is complete. We highly recommend Brooke and look forward to her support in the future.Jun 28, 2019Review from GoogleBrooke MacNicol Design's reply
Thank you Sharon! I’m so glad I could be of help, I look forward to seeing the finished product! Thank you for your kind words.
Brooke has an excellent eye for design. She helped us with placement for staging a house to sell. All her suggestions made a huge impact immediately. She also explained what she was doing and helped us understand the design. As she explained she wrote them down and email all her suggestions before the appointment was over, so we could go back and look after she left. She also included pictures of the suggestions for additional furnishing and where to find them. She has a great personality and very easy to work with. We will definitely use her in the future.Dec 27, 2019Verified
Thank you so much Brooke for decorating our home. Your little touches brightened up the rooms. We loved everything about you from you coming into our home and listening to what we needed to going shopping and texting every picture of the items before purchasing to laying it in the rooms. Everything was perfect! Will definitely recommend you to anyone who is looking for an interior decorator!Dec 31, 2019Verified
Brooke is one of the best designers Ive worked with. She redid our living room and turned it into a hang out/glam modern space that we could finally enjoy with friends! She is incredibly sweet, very easy to work with, and 100% dedicated to her designs and thats the thing I liked most about her. 10/10 would recommend again.Jul 17, 2019Review from Google

- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've been remodeling and flipping homes since I was 17 years of age. Most of my experience comes from the construction field however I went to college for business. One of my first jobs was at a granite/quartz company, followed by a nationally known wholesale material provider for flooring, tile, cabinetry and more. This equips me to be well versed in the correct pricing, quality and installation of materials in your remodel/new build. Pertaining to furnishings, I grew up going to Dallas market from the age of 9 with my parent's who are also successful entrepreneurs. I owned and operated a staging and design company in Wichita, Kansas which was sold in 2017 and worked for a design firm here in Dallas TX. Overall I have a very well-rounded arsenal of tools that equal success in any project.
