FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will sit down with a New client and go over a basic informational questionnaire that is necessary to completing an accurate tax return. Not only does this protect the tax preparer, but most of all it protects the client. At this time the client will also have the opportunity to address any questions or concerns they may have. Communication is key. With the new regulations the IRS has put into place, it is key that all information necessary be documented and kept in the client file. After the questionnaire is completed and any questions or concerns addressed, the return is prepared, the client can choose to be present or have their return completed as a drop off. Once completed, all information within the return is reviewed with the client. This gives the taxpayer the opportunity to address any concerns and the preparer the opportunity to provide guidance in areas of lowering the tax liability and maximizing deductions and credits. After reviewing the return with the client the return is then sent to the IRS.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Ann Cole has been in the tax preparation industry for about 20 years. She started preparing Schedule C returns for her parent's business and a few 1040 returns for their friends, with her mom's guidance of course. She continued on this path until she became a stay at home mom in 1999. In 2007, with all of her children in school, she applied for a part-time tax preparer position with Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. She was hired as a full-time Office Manager/Supervisor and facilitated in training new hires in tax preparation and policy and procedure that year. Within the first 2 years of employment she began assisting her Area Manager in further training and hiring of new preparers. In 2010, her employment now included the title Assistant Area Manager. Within the next 2 years she helped initiate step by step form preparation for a better understanding of the make-up of an income tax return, one on one Policy and Procedure training, as well as decreasing Accounting errors by 90%. Ann Cole takes tax return preparation very seriously. She believes the taxpayer needs to know that their information is not only in capable but compassionate hands.
