FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) requires that I have 30 hours of continuing education in the field every 3 years.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been a horse owner for 25+ years and had been teaching riding lessons for about 10 years as a second job for extra income. When the opportunity presented itself to work as a full time Equestrian Director I jumped at the opportunity and was luck enough to get the job.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask if the facility follows a lesson program-such as CHA-or if it is more of an "informal" program. Some people like a little structure and some people are more "fly by the seat of your pants"...the good news is there is a riding program out there for everyone. Be honest about your riding abilities and riding goals...this will help your instructor help you. Your instructor is your biggest fan and advocate:)
