Hello, my name is Karen Benson, Founder and CEO of Laurel Canyon Living, a lifestyle brand. At Laurel Canyon Living, we are in business to help our clients live a better, more fulfilling life. First, with a background in sustainability because of saying this prayer my entire life, “Let us be faithful stewards of Thy bounty”, and developing design and construction experience in my dad’s construction company from an early age, I have been enamored of using green design and building in all my work. Why? Because the bar is higher for green building design and construction. This is because it is a more holistic challenge, creating better questions with better answers. For example, in the year 2025, why are we not providing design for all our buildings that maximize the use of daylight for interior lighting? My background has resulted in me using my expertise to build my consulting business by providing volunteer services to school districts, and bring hired on a national basis as the Construction Management consultant for both the National Clearinghouse on Educational Facilities, and the American Clearinghouse for Education, both operated under a grant awarded by the US Department of Education, with resources for all schools in the US, from pre-k through higher education.See more
