FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer discounts if we bundle your project (for example, if we do an evaluation and a copyedit). I charge you by the project, so I need to see the manuscript before I can give you the project price, but to see if I fit your budget, projects tend to be .8 to 3 cents per word.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If a customer is comfortable with a phone or video call, once I am a finalist I like to talk to the customer. If a customer is not comfortable with that, we can communicate through email. I like to know if the customer is planning on self publishing or submitting to agents or publishers, as this may affect how I approach the project, especially if the client has a tight budget.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I interned at an ebook-first publisher from 2015-2017, and then started my own business. I have taken a number of classes through the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA) and ACES: the Society for Editing (I am a member of both). I have earned the Poynter ACES Certificate in Editing and am working toward my certificate of copyediting through UC-San Diego.
