FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Web Design projects are quoted on a project to project basis. Personal blogging sites (typically for artists, musicians, photographers, or other hobbyists) can often be built in the $800 to $1000 range. Smaller business websites typically start around $1200. Larger more complex sites can range anywhere from $3000 to upwards of $10k, depending on the extent of site content, level of customization, custom plugin configuration, eCommerce options, etc. For smaller sites we usually require 50% down and 50% upon completion. For more complex projects, we can break it down into 3 or more payments over the course of the project. Web Hosting packages start at $5-12/month and includes 1 free domain name, plus additional discount for paying a year or more up front. Web design clients get 1 free year of hosting.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most new projects start with email correspondence to get a basic overview of the client and their project. From there we can arrange for either a phone conversation or a face to face meeting to get into more details. I will provide a quote for the project based on the client's needs and my current workload. If the client is capable of handling their own site design, and only needs domain registration and/or web hosting, they can visit our website where the sign up, payment, and activation process is fully automated.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I originally started off in the music business in the late 90s, and at that time the internet was first emerging as a viable means of communication and marketing. I taught myself HTML in order to build websites for small bands and record labels I was working with at the time. Since then it quickly became second nature to constantly learn more and more about CSS, PHP, MySQL and the underlying hosting infrastructures involved.
