Robert did an awesome job on my drywall repairs, various cracks, and holes that needed repair. He had texture and painted to match. He was very thorough with details. He was very polite and his price was very affordable. I recommend him to everyone I know needing work! Definitely will be using his services again in the future.

I don't even know where to begin. I was working out of state and I needed to sell my house Temple, TX. Clipper's basically took care of everything that pertained to getting my house ready to put on the market. Rebecca was AWESOME. I really felt like she was selling my house for me. I asked a lot of her and she came through with flying colors. I needed some cracks in the drywall fixed due to some settling, the house cleaned inside and out (power washed the outside), and some junk removed. They did it all AND some. Rebecca would recommend things be done to increase the marketability of my house. I really appreciated her attention to detail and working with me while I was out of state during this whole process. I mean....she went out of her way to order a utility room light fixture globe because she thought it would be best for me. She did the same with the toilet seat. She replaced light bulbs that were out too. As for the price, it was so reasonable that I actually could afford to ask her to do more to the house like power wash the outside. All I can say is that if I still lived in Temple, I would not think twice about hiring her again. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

If you need a fence repaired or replaced... don't go to a fence installation contractor. You will pay double the price. I contacted a number of contractors for repair of our boundary fence. Fully half didn't bother responding to my voice mail - I assume the job was too small. Of the four that actually responded, three were fence installation contractors and one was fence repair - Al. I could tell from the quote he sent me, he knew his business. There was no guessing. He quoted in linear feet and per post. When asked, he came out immediately to review the job and confirm the price and started working the next day. We were so pleased with his work quality, work ethic, and knowledge that we expanded (doubled) the work. He was able to do it all in two days. We are planning on having him come back to repair another part of the fence soon. Don't waste your time... hire Al for your fence repairs and replacements. He loves what he does, it shows, and you will not regret it.

We hired Jon to replace our wooden 9 year old crumbling fence that had partially blown down from a storm. We got lots of quotes from big fencing companies and no one could come close to the price that Jon offered us. Jon's quote was about $10 cheaper per linear foot than the other companies could offer! Jon and his crew did a beautiful job on the fence. They even had to deal with connecting the fence to a large tree and they did it seamlessly. I am so happy that we had Jon and his crew come out to do our fence. They were able to finish the project in just three days and I hardly knew they were even there. The best part is, that rather than just take the old wood to the dump, they offered it to a few couples who needed the wood repair their fences/make crafts which is super environmentally friendly! I will definitely hire them in the future to do other projects around our house.

Ryan and crew were more than I could have hoped for. I provided exacting specs for the job I wanted done, and they delivered — even suggesting improvements along the way to yield an even better end result than I could have hoped for. They removed a pass-thru wall air conditioner for me, reinforced the structure once the hole was wide open, added insulation, and then covered the exterior with OSB plywood and hardie lap siding and painted, per spec. Interior, they patched with drywall, taped and floated, then painted. Great work, will use them again.

My project was installing double doors in an opening that had to be reconfigured in size and required installation of a header, drywall work, texture, painting, installation of the prehung double doors and door hardware. Sonny was responsive to messages via Thumbtack and also while doing the work, checking in with me throughout the project to make sure it was to my satisfaction at various points. His rate was reasonable and he was able to complete the work in a timely manner. He was respectful and courteous. I'm very pleased with the result and would recommend him on this type of project without reservation.

Marco and his crew were amazing. They painted the entire interior of our home and used multiple colors of top quality paint. We had several spots where the Sheetrock was damaged and the boys at Galactic did a seamless match to the original. They even fixed a window sill for me at no additional charge. I couldn’t recommend a better paint company for the quality and price. A+ work from Marco and crew!

Peter Park is a very capable contractor. Our job included sheet rock repair from water damage, painting the room, and repairing anything that was damaged by the leak of a water heater in our ceiling. Peter knew what he was doing. I even let him pick the color of paint for the bathroom. While he was working on that and waiting for things to dry, Peter helped with several other projects. One of our ceiling fans needed a new switch and several light fixtures needed new bulbs. They were located in very difficult locations. Peter also changed out an air conditioner filter. We recommend Peter Park Construction for any job. He researches the project and is very responsible. You can count on him to get the job done.

mark demonstrated his honesty in several ways. the project was originally to be 6 can lights, but only 5 were needed. he did not charge me for the 6th can, light, or install. he got the material for a lower price than he bid, so he passed the savings on to me. he reduced his labor cost because it took less time to repair a sheet rock hole than he originally estimated. he took care of a couple problems that popped up during the install process without adding them to the bill. his final bill was about 20% less than the estimate i agreed to. when does THAT ever happen? and when he was done, he told me he would email the final bill to me. he brought his own helper (well, actually it was his wife) so i didn't have to stand on a ladder holding a rod through the hole in the ceiling, while he made his way around in the attic. and she spent her down time cleaning up the fallen insulation in our kitchen. all in all, mark exceeded my workmanship expectations while charging me less than i expected. i would definitely use NOZ again.

Joe did a great drywall repair job on a ceiling water leak. His fee was very reasonable and the work quality was good. He showed up when he said he would and was very efficient with his time. He did a great job keeping the area he was working on sectioned off with plastic to minimize dust and keep my kids out of his way.

Great guy! Worked with me when my iron fence install got delayed mid job. Came back to finish when I was ready. He came up with a clever way to solve a gate problem. I may be hiring him again to do a bigger fence repair caused by the hurricane. I just found out he does concrete work too so he may be repairing a broken section of that for me as well.

My husband and I decided to hire MD Contracting as our contractor to remodel the whole interior. Our house was built in 1975 and we needed to have it updated for our safety and comfort. Kenneth and Tiffany were the right people for the job. They responded promptly and listened to our ideas and needs. Their crew worked hard and they didn't leave a lot of mess after their work each day. Both Kenneth and Tiffany are good and honest people. We enjoyed working with them. Joel & Wanida

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

  • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
  • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

  • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
  • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
  • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
