FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every property and project is different. I customize designs according to owners wish list and budget. It is impossible to set a flat fee on a custom project without visiting the site and interviewing the owners. The fee for this initial contact is $65.00. I will quote a design fee for the project once we have explored the possibilities.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The fist step is a site visit to evaluate the property and discern its compatability with the clients desires, budget, maintenance commitment, and timeline. I will teach my client on the basics of successful horticultural practices here in North Texas and help them understand the managment of the plants on their property. No landscape thrives if there is a lack of understanding about the managment of plantings. I will communicate the limitations, and potential, your site posesses to meet the clients desires. I may offer some inital design concepts help formulate the cost of designing the project, but often the best ideas come in the design studio with much research and vision to enhance the space beyond the typical layout. I love to think out of the box and reject cookie cutter approaches that many landscapers will offer. I can also provide on-the-spot sketches for those with limited budgets. I understand the do-it yourselfer, having been one myself for many years. But how many of you have found your efforts completely dessimated by the summer heat, or wildly overgrown in a few short years? It is my goal that you succeed, whether I design your project or not. That is why the $65.00 inital consultation is not just paying for a designer you might get elsewhere for free, it is a well spent investment of having a Horticulturalist on your side, and putting an end to the landscape dissapointment that may have checkered your past.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bach of Science from Texas A&M University in Horticulture, a post grad certificate in Environmental Wetland Science and Restoration from the Univ of Washington. I am certified in AUTOCADD (computer aided drafting and design), trained in Irrigation Hydraulics from Edmonds College, WA and hold a Texas Certified Irrigators License.
