Introduction: I am conscientious in my work - a stickler for details. I have more than 35 years of experience. In translating and interpreting, it is a challenge to find just the right words and expressions to make the text sing in the language I am translating to. And I love that kind of a challenge!

Elswith is a fabulous translator whom I worked with for several years while in the US Military. She is fast, efficient and very accurate. I could not recommend her more highly. She is also an excellent manager of projects.

She translated from German to English and explained to me a rental contract for a house outside the military base while I was stationed in Germany. I highly recommend her to anyone who need her services as translator and manager.

I had the privilege of working with Elswith when I was in Germany with the US Army. She was our "go-to" person for all cultural and translation matters. She has a great work ethic and she is highly professional. She could always be counted on to complete any assigned task on-time and correctly. She has great writing skills. I highly recommend her.

Ms. Elswith Petrakovic was the 3d AD G-5 Cultural Attache for the General assigned as our commander. She was the diplomat, and possessed the art of diplomacy, being the liaison between dignitaries and officers as the interpreter. In her diplomatic position, she organized special events with local dignitaries utilizing her talents of speaking different languages for all social events, ensuring all goals were accomplished.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I like helping people, and ended up translating everywhere - even in restaurants. While working for the US Army, I was able to put that talent to work, and consequently get promoted many times, with raises accordingly. One of the many positions I held was that of assistant editor and later editor of the biweekly 3rd Armored Division newspaper. During my employment by the US Army in Germany, I was asked to fill in for a missing German instructor in the adult education program, resulting in a four nights a week evening commitment for several years, teaching Conversational German 101. During that time, one of the many positions I held was that of assistant editor and later editor of the biweekly 3rd Armored Division newspaper (34,000 copies). Fame spread, and I was asked to translate legal documents, later also in courts and for the police in investigations involving English speaking personnel.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I translate flyers, personal letters, newspaper clippings. Edit short books, personal letters, cover letters.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The more explicit you are in explaining what the work entails, the better of a finished product you will receive. A little of the circumstances for which the translation is needed also helps a great deal.
