- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly updating my set of resources. I take classes and read books on coaching, parenting, counseling, psychology, business, spirituality and anything else that may affect my ability to provide the very best service to my coaching clients. I almost always have two or three books that I am reading and I attend at least 25 hours of training each year, usually more. If it becomes apparent that learning a specific skill or approach will be useful to one or more of my clients, I seek out training so that I am the most effective coach I can be. I love learning and I love coaching so I am able to fulfill my life's purpose by keeping up with what my clients need.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have two very intense and sometimes challenging children. When my youngest was born (2002), my oldest son began acting out to such a degree that he was suspended from his preschool. I researched and tried many, many methods of parenting and found that most methods not only did not help, they actually made things worse. I was at the end of my rope when I found The Nurtured Heart Approach. It is a challenge to implement this approach, but well worth the effort. Since starting this approach, I have had nothing but great reports from my son's school and he is now 16 and is on a trajectory to be a wonderful success! Not only is he doing well, our relationship has grown and deepened also. Once I realized how well this approach worked, I set out to share it with other struggling parents who needed to learn an effective tool to work with their intense child (children). It is a "no blame" approach that helps parents have the proper tools to work with very intense children who need a different approach. p.s. It also works fabulously with siblings or students who are not so intense, so it can be used with everyone in the family or in the classroom. After working with parents for many years, I now enjoy doing life coaching and transitional coaching as well. Following are some examples of life and transitions coaching. Helping people transition from High School to college, from college to the workplace, moving, becoming an "empty-nester", moving into a retirement community, starting a business, making your business into a great success, re-arranging life priorities so as not to miss out on time with those who are important to you or moving toward greater health. These are only a few examples of the types of coaching I provide. Please feel free to call me personally for your free 30 minute consultation to see if working together is a good fit for you!
