FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was in psychology when I was in my early 20's, but I did not feel experienced enough to help others with serious problems. Once I gave the business world a try, I realized it was quite comfortable for me. Now, I do have that worldly experience to be an effective counselor/psychologist, which may be in my future. For now, business is interesting. Upon obtaining my MBA, I gained a "big picture" view of how the various departments of a company work together for success. I also enjoy the reasoning and economics behind why certain outcomes occur, which allows me to maximize positive outcomes and learn from ones that had different results.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Reporting, either financially or operationally. Creating and updating spreadsheets. Taking large amounts of data and summarizing the results, perhaps in answer to an executive's question. Deciding which data elements should be used to answer the question accurately. I also have written instructional and procedural manuals and taught classes. Often, I am the consolidator of data which entails communication with various experts in the field and piecing together a report with numerous sources of data. I always need to understand what is behind the numbers and ensure that the calculations are accurate and make sense.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
The metrics job I referred to above.
