I love being able to give families the ability to truly enjoy their dogs! To love them AND their behavior! No one wants to walk a dog who is pulling you down the street or trying to attack strangers. Or the embarrassment of having company over and your dog being out of control. You want to be able to love having them with you anywhere, anytime, knowing they'll be on their best behavior! I also love seeing the changes in the dogs as we work through any issues they may have, especially rescue dogs. To have a dog that's so fearful you can't take him in public, becoming a dog that happily greets new people or dogs. Or the aggressive dogs learning how to make new friends, and be able to play and enjoy life. There's nothing like it.

Amanda with The Devoted Dog is my lifesaver! We adopted a very nervous 2 year old male mix breed a little over a year ago while my husband was stationed in Virginia. We tried several training programs in Virginia and they were unsuccessful each time. He had aggression towards strangers and animals (especially cats), food aggression, leash pulling and re-activity and overall obedience issues. It had gotten to the point where it was no longer enjoyable to have a dog as we felt like we were prisoners in our home and feared how he would act every time we ventured out with him but I refused to give up on him. When it came time to relocate back to Texas last month I started looking into trainers in the area to give it one more shot. I had a horrible experience with one of the trainers I used in Virginia so I was leery about selecting one that I knew nothing about but as soon as I spoke with Amanda I knew I had found the perfect trainer. On our first phone conversation she stayed on the phone with me for at least 30 minutes answering all my questions and explaining her program. I really liked the knowledge she had on animal behavior, training, nutrition and I could tell she was an animal lover like me. I loved that my dog would get to live in her house with her and her animals so he could learn how to be a functioning member of our family. He started the program the day after we arrived back in Texas and he completed the Dream Dog program this past weekend. I am so happy to have him back and he is a whole new dog in all the best ways. She exceeded my expectations on how well behaved he could be. We now enjoy walks and he can even be off leash without me worrying about him darting off. He listens so well and has learned how to control his energy. He no longer shows aggression towards new people or animals and gets excited to see them. His confidence is so much better and he seems to be enjoying life more now that he knows how to be a good dog. I am used to seeing my dog every day so while it was hard being without him for 3 weeks Amanda was in constant contact with me. I received updates and pictures from her daily which made it so much easier to get through. She also made a video at the end of each week to show his progress throughout the week. She is an amazing person and an amazing trainer! I will be using her again when we decide to grow our family!

We are very pleased with choosing Amanda to give our dog, Layla, the training she needed. Amanda was very knowledgeable and informative of the needs that Layla had and how we need to meet those needs. Amanda LOVES dogs and is very passionate about her work. She turned our 14 month old dog into the most well behaved one in 2 weeks. Our dog did not have much basic training... went from stubborn one to listening to commands the first time :-) Highly recommend, Amanda.

We adjust our prices as needed to reflect the differences in each dog, their family's needs, and location.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly reading, following other professionals, and attending seminars/workshops when possible. I am currently looking at pursuing a 4 year degree in animal behavior, with the obvious focus on dogs :)
What types of customers have you worked with?
Our boarding school is unique, and our most popular program. They are a great head start for the busy families who want a dog they can live with, but who dont have the time to teach good behaviors. In large training facilities your dog may not be getting the attention youre hoping for. But with us, your dog is a member of the family!
