I started my weight loss journey with Jim in 2013. Turning 50 the same year and hardly exercising at all in the past, i didn't have my hopes too high. He showed me the proper form so i wouldn't hurt myself while paying close attention to my progress. He brought out in me, a person i had not seen in many years and i am very thankful for him. He helped me go from a size 12 to a 6/8 and my self esteem increased as well. Health wise, i was able to get off my acid refux meds and Triglyceride medicine. After taking a short break from his services, I came back to him again for additional sessions. He is very flexible, fitting into my timeframe as needed. Plus his rate is very affordable. He has impressed me so much with his knowledge in this field and his focus on his customers wellbeing. I have referred many friends to him and would recommend him to anyone who has a desire to better themselves. Forever greatful!! Kathy Howie

I usually start my day with PKI- MMA. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a student at this establishment. I have learned an abundance of healthy routines. My body and soul feel so much lighter and healthier. The instructors are absolutely, hands down, all about you. They make you feel powerful. In the full year of my journey I discovered that I’m totally engaged to what comes next. I am enthusiastic about the next days that come. I plan on being a member of PKI-MMA for many more years. A new day at PKI always brings a learning experience! And I’m on board for plenty more.

My 3 boys and I took self defense classes from Renee in preparation for a trip out of the country. Even though my boys' ages vary from 8 to 17, she was able to make it a great experience for all of us. We all learned so much and had a really great time. She was prepared with pads so we could practice what we learned. We feel much more confident that we have some skills to defend ourselves in case we need to. I also loved that she came to us, so we didn't have to go anywhere.

PTSD is something that I have lived with since I was 4-5 years old, although I was not aware of it for nearly 47 of my 55 years. I am fortunate to have found Roland Berg, licensed hypnotherapist, who is kind, compassionate, insightful, and professional. My anxiety is less, my sleep is deeper, and I am beginning to believe that I deserve to be whole and healthy and that it is safe to feel joy and pleasure in this lifetime. I have had a Reiki and Astrology practice for over 15 years and have worked with all kinds of professionals for self healing and healing of others; Roland ranks up at the top of my very long list.

The training I've received from Mix It Up has been so beneficial is many ways. The training is practical - something that I greatly appreciate, as my time and efforts are valuable, but also because the techniques are explained and make sense and are therefore easier to pick up, regardless of your fitness or coordination level. I know some people that think they have to "get in shape" before joining a gym or training program. Usually because their previous class experience was with a huge group of people and only one instructor that never gave them any feedback or helped them during class. That's not the case at Mix It Up! All of the training is done from a ground-up approach, and start with the basics, so ANYONE can do it!! They also offer more advanced classes and take a personal interest in your progress, making sure you are getting the training you need at the right time. I've seen the owners, Chris and Jennifer Coble, take time to talk with each person that walks through the door - finding out what they're interested in and making tailored suggestions for each person. The classes include a lot of one-on-one training within a comfortable group setting, so I always feel like I'm getting good feedback and personalized instruction. I've met and made a lot of friends through the MIU center and always look forward to classes; which vary from low-impact Pilates to Bootcamp, boxing and self-defense. The positive, family-friendly environment isn't at all what I expected from a mixed martial arts place (I was thinking Rocky & raw-eggs or Mr. Miyagi or something)! But MIU offers such a broad range of classes and personal training, there really is something for everyone from senior citizens to professional athletes...and all of US in between! It's neat to see parents and their kids working out in the same place and the instructors help encourage the camaraderie. The Krav Maga training I've received has had a lot of positive influence on my daily life - the conditioning increases your body awareness and general movement, and the cardio aspect is great! Having no previous knowledge of any martial arts or self-defense, I was pleasantly surprised to find how rewarding the classes are - not because I perform well, but because I performed at all! It's empowering to try something new and to test your limits a little bit, especially b/c you almost always find out you can do much more than you thought! And while I hope to never find myself in a situation where Krav Maga training or self-defense is necessary, it's a nice feeling to know you've just spent an hour going through a great total-body workout...that might also one day save your life."

Joel was very educated and professional. Explained so much to me about different techniques and when someone should use them in self defense. I highly recommend Joel for all your needs. He is great with all ages, abilities, and also big groups. You won't be disappointed!
