Introduction: My name is Abby Ketch and I'm a lyric mezzo-soprano from Alpine, Utah. I recently graduated from Brigham Young University as a Vocal Performance major and a Spanish minor. I have a passion for finding freedom and release in the voice as I teach and perform. I began studying voice in 2009 and have dedicated the majority of my studies to classical repertoire. During my time at BYU, I studied with Dr. Diane Thueson Reich and Professor Darrell Babidge. Beginning fall 2020, I plan to begin my Masters in Vocal Performance at the University of Utah. I love seeing my voice students grow and develop in their skills and performance. Previously, I sang with BYU Opera Theatre as the Third Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, as Dulcina in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, and as chorus in Handel’s Theodora. I participated in BYU Opera Scenes from King Solomon Oratorio, Carmen, The Magic Flute, He Shall Prepare a Way, The Ballad of Baby Doe, and Der Rosenkavalier. I also sang supporting roles in Lehár’s The Merry Widow with the Utah Vocal Arts Academy Summer Opera Festival. My collegiate choral experience includes singing with BYU Singers for 2 years and BYU Women's Chorus for 2 years. In addition to singing, I grew up playing the cello, teaching swimming lessons, and participating in the high jump in track and field.
