Introduction: I have extensive experience at the management level and understand the needs of small businesses for accuracy and efficiency in preparing financial information. I develop reports that show an owner accurate and informative information about their business.
I enjoy teaching the owner/staff how to set up and maintain their records effectively. Samples of my work are:
• Worked with owner of newly purchased business to evaluate product costs, revise accounting system, and develop a growth oriented budget. With this information, he was able to grow at 20% a year and plan for expansion.
• Consultant for large political PR firm: Implemented contract management processes; wrote first Policy and Procedure Manual and first Employee Manual. During difficult system conversion, identified system issues and corrected; reviewed internal control issues; developed process flowcharts and job responsibilities and corrected data; rewrote existing contract language and set up contract monitoring; trained employees on new procedures.
• Controller for small aerospace research firm: Analyzed Quickbooks financial records of 14-year-old firm to develop direct cost and overhead rates for new NASA proposal; redesigned financial process to comply with contract requirements; designed cash flow model to support three new contracts; identified payroll issues such 401K contribution inconsistencies. Developed budget analysis of payroll costs and set up timesheet allocations.
• Accountant for a successful online marketing firm: Provided consulting for monitoring growth requirements. Converted financial recordkeeping and inventory turnover analysis for 10 product lines to Quickbooks system. Developed budget model for expected rapid growth. Provided consulting for monitoring growth requirements.
• Accountant for national PR firm: Required streamlining accounting system to provide for better accountability, improved 1099 process, and managed financial records.
• Acting CFO at Greenpeace International Headquarters for six months during search for permanent employee.
