Travis peay did an amazing job for me. He went above and beyond for me, I orgionaly asked him to paint one room which ended up being three rooms. He primed all three rooms from top to bottom. He even helped me finish the nails in the baseboards and crown moulding as well as filled the holes and sanded !! Then he painted the ceilings, baseboards and walls. He worked late in to the night and even worked on Sunday for me. I was so suprised that he even bought and replaced all of the outlet and light switch face plates for me. My house looks amazing he did a wonderful job and I can't wait to have him paint the rest of our remodel .simpley the best.!!!!

Rick was fantastic to work with! He came in and, unlike other hangers who just said, "We can put it up now," he actually analyzed the walls we were considering getting covered. He told us which could we could hang wallpaper on right away, and which needed to be sanded or otherwise repaired in order for the covering to look it's best, without any little bumps, seams or otherwise unsightly flaws. He really knows what's he talking about and his attention to detail was so refreshing. Rather than just getting in and out, his primary concern was making sure the wallpaper looked amazing. He actually did get in a out very quickly, however. It was a time-sensitive job so he worked his schedule around in order to squeeze us in when we needed, did an amazing job, and was done (and very clean!) very quickly. He had so much knowledge on not only wall covering installation, but drywall, painting, and general construction. It all combined to give us an amazing room. We used high-end wallpaper flown in from Paris, and there was only just enough to cover the wall, so if mistakes were made we'd be out of luck. None were, of course. The install was seamless. Our interior designer was so impressed with his work she asked for his number to have him do her own home when the time comes. Thanks Rick! Now we just need to get you back this spring to do the rest of our house for us!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best way to remove wallpaper?

There are several proven methods for wallpaper removal; each has its pros and cons, but some are definitely easier. Peeling is usually the least painful, followed by soaking and stripping. Dry-stripping is the next most time-consuming, and steaming the most work. The average wallpaper removal job costs between $360 and $560. The method of removal can affect the cost, as steaming takes longer than peeling and will therefore typically cost more. Peeling wallpaper off is usually the quickest method. To see if your wallpaper can be peeled off, try gently edging up a corner and carefully peeling the paper off the wall in strips. If you can’t peel, then you’ll have to score and strip it, either by dry-stripping or by soaking and then stripping. Plaster walls can withstand moisture and can stand up to soaking and stripping, but drywall should not be soaked. For very stubborn wallpaper, steaming may be necessary, which is time-consuming but effective. If you prefer not to attempt these methods yourself, wallpaper removal pros have the proper tools and experience to quickly take down wallpaper and also repair any damage to your walls.

How much does it cost to remove wallpaper in a room?

The national wallpaper removal cost averages $360-$560, which will typically include multiple rooms. Pros often charge by the square foot to remove egregious wallpaper that is long past its prime. Wallpaper removal cost may range anywhere from 60 cents to $1.50 or more per square foot. A pro may estimate removal costs ranging between $160 and $300 for a medium-sized room. Costs can vary due to ceiling height, and some pros add a skim coat to make repainting or re-papering smoother. Here are some examples of average costs to remove wallpaper:
