When Gary Barton came to my place to give me a bid on replacing my hardwood wood floor, I liked him before he even gave me a bid, he was easy to talk too, he listen to me and gave me options to consider.
I did prior research on Gary before he came to my home. I had a good idea who he was and the quality of work he did before he came to give me a bid. I read his reviews and I liked what I read. I also, learned that he’d been installing hardwood floors for 43 plus years. Experience (vetted) was very important to me.
In talking to him at my place, Gary first listen to me and then gave me options and discussed each with me. He was so easy to talk to and in a short period of time I knew he knew what he was talking about and I could trust him to do a great job with whatever option I chose. After getting other bids, I chose to go with him and I was not disappointed. With a deposit, he ordered the wood and had it delivered to my home so it could be acclimated before installing.
Gary was very responsive to phone calls and text. When the project of tearing out my damaged Premium Red Oak 3/4” by 3 1/4” Oak floor (600 square feet) began, he always showed up to work 10 minutes early and this continued throughout the project of replacing the wood, sanding, refinishing, and cleaning up. He, Jeff and Toni did an excellent job. I had a couple of minor issues and he Gary quickly responded and showed up with Jeff, and Toni on a Saturday morning and took care of them. Plus I had written down some questions on how to care for my new floor and all my questions were answered. I was so impressed how hard of worker Gary was and how fast he was. The same goes for Jeff and Toni. Each of them were great workers. I could count on them to be here on time to work on each day. Quickly I knew they would do a great job. I have a rock fireplace where the wood floor had to be installed up against, cutting around pipes, corners, etc. and it was all measured and cut to a perfect fit, yep they were meticulous in their work.
The new Red Oak solid wood floor was finished fast and professionally done. I love my new floor and those who drop by my place, including other contractors and subcontractors say what a great job. Some ask who did the work, and I didn’t hesitate to tell them that Gary Barton did. Each of them said something similar, that he certainly knows what he is doing and I would add, yep, and a good person.
If you are looking to have a hardwood floor replaced, or a new hardwood floor installed I highly recommend Gary Barton. You can count on him doing a professional job at a reasonable price. I tell everyone Gary Barton is the hardwood man, a down to earth person, who is friendly, responsible, dependable, and caring. He is just a good person. I wished all contractors or subcontractors were like him! You want a wood floor and baseboards done right, fast, and reasonable call Gary.

I recently hired Gary to replace the carpet in my home with luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. From start to finish, Gary was professional, efficient, and detail-oriented.

I hired Gary via Thumbtack to install continuous LVP throughout my first floor (about 850 sq ft). I have an older house in salt lake city so every room had different materials, different heights, and unknown surprises. As an experienced DIYer, I can be particular about details and finish, Gary worked with me to narrow in on my requests, and always confirmed about how they should finish a certain area. He was also direct and transparent when we had an issue or challenge. The finished job looks amazing. Very happy with the work. I have noticed a few minor areas where there is a small amount of movement (uneven), but frankly, I understand my house was a considerable challenge and it would be nearly impossible to level perfectly. I would recommend Gary for any flooring work moving forward. Ask him about motorcycles :).

Gary did great work for us! He was very punctual for both the initial look/bid and when we scheduled the actual work to replaced several damaged EVP boards. He saw the opportunity to maintain the integrity of the floor by essentially uninstalling part of the floor in order to replace the boards, then reinstalling it, rather than cutting the damaged boards out. This likely added years to the floor longevity, and we really appreciate the thought put into this. Our floor is good as new now, like nothing happened. We'll definitely hire Gary again to take care of our floors in the future!
