Floor Installation or Replacement
From the initial conversation about scheduling a quote to the finished product, Floor Coverings International was incredibly easy and great to work with. Within minutes of requesting a quote, I was contacted by Adrian to schedule an in-home estimate. He arrived on time, was knowledgeable, personable, and professional. He made sure all my questions were answered and he brought several flooring options for me to review. Once I decided to go with them, we were scheduled for the project within the week. The floor installer was on-time, efficient, and professional as well. Throughout the project and after it was complete, Adrian reached out to make sure I didn't have any questions or concerns. Floor Installation or Replacement
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Severe lack of attention to detail in almost every aspect of this project from major things like breaking up and removing flooring they were told not to remove (which released asbestos dust into the house which resulting in time delays, major stress, and additional labor on the part of the owner of the house to get the asbestos cleaned and tested by an industrial hygienist); hundreds, yes HUNDREDS, of black marks, scapes, and dents left on the walls that were literally JUST freshly painted prior to hiring International Floor Coverings; to minor things like leaving lights turned on after they left in the evening and doors being left unlocked after their teams left for the night. They company did pay for the asbestos to be tested (the first test to determine what measures needed to be taken before the flooring was installed). Luckily the air quality test came back negative, but the dust sample test was positive for asbestos. I had to personally buy a HEPA shopvac and other cleaning supplies and spend many hours personally cleaning and washing every surface of the home after Floor Coverings International's above mentioned major screw up. This was a very VERY FRUSTRATING experience for me and while the Project Manager (aka proclaimed President of Floor Coverings International in the area) first mentioned the entire thing was his fault and he would take 100% financial measures to make it right, 1 week later he said they would only pay for 50% of the followup test to make sure the home didn't test positive for asbestos after the project was completed. VERY DISHONEST. The contractors they brought in to prep and also the contractors brought in to do the new flooring did a horrendous job at taking care of the walls, baseboards, and cabinets. Brett, We value your feedback and completely understand how you were frustrated and stressed with several circumstances during your project in early January. Without question there were issues and difficulties that, despite our best efforts and intentions, created problems to be resolved. From the asbestos tiles under existing flooring that came up during demo, to the marks on the wall that needed to be repainted. We apologize, and take responsibility to make every effort to make things right, then and now. We are grateful for your communication during your project as we discussed each issue and plans to resolve. The marks on your painted walls were difficult to avoid particularly during installation and demo. Normally, painting would be done after demo and install to avoid such circumstances as we discussed, but we understood that you were under a strict timeline, and we wanted to do everything we could to help you meet your deadline. We touched up many of these marks ourselves and paid to have your painter come back and complete. We appreciate her help. Baseboards also proved to be difficult as your existing base was installed with large nails and wood screws, which is not normal, making them very difficult to remove. We discussed this with you, and the new baseboards were the best solution. In regards to coverings expenses, we have no intention of being dishonest. A week later, as you mentioned, when you indicated you wanted to get a second test done once the project was complete, I offered to cover 50% of that test thinking that we had already covered 100% of the expenses agreed to. I see your perspective and will send you a check immediately to compensate for my misunderstanding. Once again, we completely understand your frustration and perspective and appreciate the feedback to help us improve.
The first thing we noticed about Floor Coverings Int. was how organized and thorough Adrian and his team were with their approach to our flooring project. Their personal service and attention to detail made us feel comfortable with what we thought would be a daunting and stressful process. They took the guess work completely out of the equation up front by bringing their impressive mobile showroom to our home, discussing and evaluating our needs and making professional and thoughtful design and material suggestions on the spot. After making our selection they executed an immaculate install of our beautiful new flooring. They continuously followed up and kept us informed through the whole process, making sure we were satisfied. We couldn't be happier! - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?We don't have any price gimmicks or "one week only sales". There are no "buy 2 rooms get 1 free" type of stuff. We simply offer the best products from the best manufacturers, using the most qualified installers, at an everyday great value. Our prices are always all-inclusive, with no change-orders. Once we give you a price, it stays that way even if your job becomes more complex once we remove your current flooring. There are no surprises, and you will not pay your balance until you are completely satisfied with result.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?It all starts with the in-home consultation. Book an appointment, and we will handle the rest. Appointments can last from 30 min to 2 hours depending on how you like to shop. We will stay with you as long as you need to find a product that you love. Once we find the customized flooring solution that works for you, we agree to cash or payment terms, and schedule your install. Typically, your project can be complete in under 2 weeks from the initial appointment.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Everybody in the Floor Coverings International family receives 100's of hours of computer based and hands on training. We visit the home office in Atlanta 2-4 times a year for specialized workshops. We meet monthly with our reps from each company to learn the latest installation techniques and tips to get the most longevity and performance out of each product we carry. Every installer is scrutinized for certifications, references, years of experience, and overall talent. We aren't looking for a bargain when it comes to installers, we are looking for the best available at a good value.
