Reading and Phonics Tutor

As a trained special education teacher focusing on phonics and reading comprehension, I know the importance of helping students develop strong literacy skills. When tutoring students I first assess the students needs by identifying their strengths, weaknesses, and specific areas that require improvement in phonics and reading comprehension. I design lessons that are interactive, multisensory, and tailored to each student's learning style. This is accomplished by using a variety of materials, such as manipulatives, games, and technology, to make learning enjoyable and effective. I teach phonics utilizing the Orton–Gillingham method, which focuses on explicit, systematic phonics instruction. Break down phonetic concepts into small, manageable parts, and provide ample practice opportunities for students to apply their learning.
