FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I take courses and meet with counterparts and vendors to stay in the loop of current trends. I am hosting a Networking Tea this spring where I will meet with other event planners, professionals and vendors in my field> We will discuss /share current trends, past experiences, challenges, current leads and ideas and ways in which we can serve our clients best.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been planning events since I was 10 years old. My mom encouraged my gifts and gave me a budget every year for my birthday party or event. I made my own invitations, I decided what theme I wanted, what activities I was interested in and selected the menu and decor. My skills sharpened with experience. I continued to plan social events for family, friends and church. I started planning nonprofit / corporate events before there was even a job title / job description for event planners.
