FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
As above, my charges are based on $40 an hour for the time it should take to do your work. Obviously there are many unknowns with any new project. We have to have an initial discussion to understand each other, to agree on the work needed, and to sync up our expectations. Click Show More at the bottom for specific areas to discuss. My preference is to educate the client, as well as performing the work, so when you feel you've gotten extra value out of me, I'm happiest.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As partners, we need initially to sync up with each other. Once that is done, we can run together more efficiently and get the job done. Part of the process is determining what level of participation you want and need. You can hand work off to me to just get it done, or we can work collaboratively, or do it in some hybrid way. Click Show More below to see the "What questions should customers think through" section for the types of things I'll want to know when we start talking to each other.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been writing and especially editing all my life, in multiple areas of publishing, with large organizations and small. Main experiences have been in technical editing in the IT world, academic book publishing, pre-press services, newspaper copyediting, and magazine and newsletter editing. Publishing projects can have any conceivable objective, and I aim to be flexible.
