Publishing anything requires that we immerse in details, and you can lose your overall focus easily. I'll help you keep the big picture in view. My background: Decades of successful editing in newspaper, technical, and academic publishing, entailing multiple styles, environments, and audiences. Pricing: Charges for all types of work are based on $40 an hour for actual time to do your work. If your work is simple, I can do it efficiently and your cost will be minimized. If I can show you how to fix a simple problem yourself, I will, and then we can both be happy. Time spent setting up the job with you is capped at $40 total; all other interaction time is included in the hourly rate, as I view my rate to be that of a professional, and I am not here to nickel-and-dime you. I want you to be comfortable working with me, so that we can both benefit. Availability: I'll let you know on our first contact if I have other work scheduled, and we can discuss how your project might fit in. Business details: 1. We'll have to discuss your project details before I can give you a real estimate, and we will need to be in agreement on what I can do to help you. 2. If on initial contact, we decide to not work together, I will ask you to pay me enough to cover my Thumbtack cost (usually less than $15). 3. If we decide to work together, I will ask you to sign a simple agreement (so that we are both protected), but we retain flexibility -- we can add to or reduce the scope of work as we go, simply by mutually agreeing to do so. 3.
