FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I'll honor my quoted price even if the promotion ends before you reply. As someone with ADHD, I know it can be hard to be on top of emails and messages. If you have a tight budget, just let me know and we can decide which things to compromise on together. Examples of decisions that affect cost: -Do I need to supply a table, chairs, mirrors, cleaning supplies, and lighting? -Do I need to bring supplies for multiple services, or one service? -Do I need to clean up after the event is over? -Do you or your guests have experience with the service you've booked? (Children who have never done face painting before tend to take longer because they move around or need time to get used to it.) -Do you prefer to use your own makeup and applicators? How much packing, lifting, cleaning, and planning I do before and after an event affects how much work I will need to be compensated for. Having a chat about expectations can reduce the cost of a service, and if you want me to take on some of the work and stress of planning your event, it may increase it. I think communication is important, so that everyone gets what they want.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Either through phone, text, or email, I'll talk with you about your event to plan my role in it. This could be to discuss event setup, materials needed, time, scheduling, discounts/fees, or payment types. Below are some examples of service-specific discussions. Skincare: I'll ask questions about your skin type, allergies, sensitivities and preferences. I'm a big fan of small patch tests before using a new product on a large area. Weddings: I ALWAYS schedule time before a wedding to fine tune everything and prevent unwanted surprises on the big day. This means we meet twice, the first time preferably a few weeks before the wedding, and the second on the wedding day. Face Painting: I'll ask about your setup to determine what I need to bring, and how many guests you're expecting so I don't run out of supplies. Henna Tattoos: I use PPD-free, organic henna that I buy myself in Egypt. I need an adult's permission to use henna on children because it takes a while to come off and can stain their clothing and surroundings if they're not careful. Best practices before and after henna: Before Henna: exfoliate and wash thoroughly. Don't use lotions or cremes within 24-48 hours before henna for best results. After Henna: don't let the area get wet for at least 24 hours after henna. Use oil (usually olive oil) if you need to moisturize the area. (I always apply some Vitamin E oil after henna to help protect your design from moisture and absorb properly)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been face painting and doing makeup artistry since 2007, when I was working for a cosmetics company. After that, I got a BA in Game Art and Design at The Art Institute of Washington. I was trained in special effects and costume makeup.
