Introduction: For over 30 years I've been in the business as a professional photographer. With all the competition, I think it would be pretty hard to actually stay in the business if my work didn't stand out. For the last five years I have focused on individual executive style (think Linkedin), theatrical and environmental portraits. I'm proud to say clients keep coming back! I like the collaborative effort that takes place between me and the owner, designer, art director, chef, manufacturer or whoever I happen to be working with, that's really what it's all about and what I like most about my job.

Ron is such a very talented photographer. He and I had a blast photographing all of my spices. He was meticulous in lighting each one and finding interesting backgrounds for the photos for my e-commerce site, while taking my point of view into consideration as well.

Ron helped us with both studio and location photography. He's got a good eye and can jump right in and get beautiful shots, but also works well with instructions. He's flexible, has a great attitude, and is a pleasure to work with.

Job: Theatrical Character Shots Ron travels with a truly turn-key setup, capable of turning even the most barren location into a studio. This job involved tight turnaround of twenty-one people in twenty minute increments, and Ron stayed engaged with each of the actors, guiding some of them through their first modeling. At the end of the day, his output was incredible, and the only problem we have is narrowing down the final selects from such a strong pool of choices.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Currently, my focus has been executive-Linkedin portraits and my pricing has been simple. $175 in my Crozet studio, $200 on location in Charlottesville, $225 within an hours drive and further than that it's negotiable. I admit these prices are a bit higher than the competition, but for the time I spend and the portraits I produce, it's well worth it.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Website photography. Most often, a client has a website that they want re-vamped. However, I also photograph brochures, catalogs, menus, CEO business (Linkedin) portraiture, newspaper & magazine ads, as well as social media blurbs.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Now that I'm in my fifties, I somehow feel it's my duty to make people look younger. I have lots of lighting and softening techniques to accomplish that. So many established clients starting a new career, or business have gushed over my portraits. I have to say, the compliments feel pretty good and the word of mouth business has been terrific!
