I am a former resident of the area, but never knew of Matt Coffey and Coffey's Improvements prior to finding them on Thumbtack. When I first put out my request Matt responded within the first hour. We set up a time to meet and he was on time, which although a seemingly simple task, this has proven to me to be an important early indicator as to a person's work ethic. From day one all the way until the end, Matt was always open, honest, and forthcoming about all aspects of my project. He made suggestions and recommendations based on his experience, and those recommendations were not based on cost, but were a result of what was right for me in conjunction with the discussions that he and I had. I gave him some rough guidelines to work within, and Matt took care of the rest. At no time did I feel the need to micromanage or directly supervise his work as he had instilled a sense of confidence in me that everything he was doing was consistent with best practices for the home improvement industry. Any questions that I had were promptly answered and followed up with text, calls, and pictures, depending on what the circumstance dictated. One way that I tend to measure the question of whether or not I would refer someone to someone else is with the question: Would you refer these people to your mother? I can answer that question with the statement that I have already asked Matt and Coffey's Improvements to come to my mother's house to handle a few projects over there. I have full faith and confidence that Matt and his team are more than capable and that the foundation of their business is based on integrity and always doing the right thing. They will not let you down.

Matt did a great job making crown moulding in a not-square, not quite perfect house look perfect! Very pleased with his service, professionalism, and willingness to take on a pretty small-for-him job. Will hold onto his business card!

This is an "interim report," as our project is ongoing. So far, my husband and I are extremely pleased with Matt's professionalism, his reliability, his vision, and his craftsmanship. He's not the least nor the most expensive, but he knows his stuff and provides the best value. We are looking forward to working with Matt on the rest of our project and the ones we have in the queue!

Craftsmanship & price on shutters was excellent. Not yet installed as I haven't completed painting them but I have no doubt he'll do a fine job with the installation.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Each job varies and most of the time we are the lowest bidders but a lot of custom jobs we are not the cheapest but we have over 200 years of knowledge. We provide a quality job at reasonable prices. If you are only looking for the cheapest bid we are sorry we are not the service for you.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We work with customers from design throughout construction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Architecture in college. Learned the building trade from an early age
