FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $300 per hour for criminal cases. I offer discounts for engaging me on multiple charges or multiple cases. I bill hourly because I believe it is the best way to ensure that everyone is happy with the amount they are paying. If I were to use a flat rate and it took much less time than expected, you would be unhappy you paid so much. On the other hand, if I use a flat rate and your case is much more time consuming than expected, I will be unhappy that I charged so little. I am very transparent and up front about my billing and I regularly do not charge for phone calls, emails, or text messages.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I do consultations by phone or in person. I first need to get information about why they need a lawyer so that I can figure out whether they need an attorney's services at all and whether it is the type of case that I can handle. I then discuss with the client the general process involved for their type of case and answer any questions they have about the matter. If they want to hire me we can discuss payment options and proceed on the path we have just discussed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Fordham University School of Law in New York and took the Bar Exam in Virginia. I am a licensed attorney in the state of Virginia. I am certified by the Indigent Defense Commission to represent criminal clients for felonies, misdemeanors, and juvenile matters. I worked as a Public Defender and Commonwealth's Attorney prior to going into private practice. I am also on the court appointed list in Henrico County.
