Radical Dance

Introduction: After years of backbreaking commercial choreography for young adults, I have designed a different approach to my work. Dance by number is a choreography concept designed for people of all ages who are interested in combining art and community through dance, drama, and numerical symbols. It is designed for people of all ages to come together within a non-competitive, inclusive medium to create rituals that unite groups of people. In an effort to replace the ever-growing addiction to indirect human communication through electronic screens and devices, this program gives people the opportunity to come together using huge game boards as floor plans for group choreographies and dramas that become playful ceremonies for communities. Each class will become a numerical study in which we examine the dynamics of group interaction between the particular number of participants using floor designs that have different numerical parts, from one to 12.
