Steve and his crew have done another job in our yard before removing three major trees. We were very happy to contact him again when we had additional needs with one medium to large size maple in our front yard near our house. He responded immediately, came out within a day to make a quote, and had the work done within another day! He was communicative, his crew was very professional, and they’re great value compared to others. Would recommend with no hesitation!

I've had a lot of issues getting quality work done long distance, this was not one of them. Communication was very prompt and professional. Owner stayed in contact throughout project and monitored work. I'm extremely satisfied, and they made sure of it. They removed about 30 trees, of which five or six were very large in two days. They are my go to for any trimming or tree removal work on the peninsula for as long as they are in business.

When we bought our house 3 years ago, we knew the 50+ foot maple tree in the back was going to need to be removed eventually. Over the years it had been cut away from the power lines by the power company, making it heavy on one side and leaning towards the house. Every time a storm came through, I was nervous that it would finally give in to gravity and we’d have a bigger problem. We got lucky that it never damaged out property, but recently noticed that it had areas of decay near the base of the trunk. One hollow was so deep I could stick a branch into it over two feet (did I mention this tree was massive?). Once we realized this hole was there, I knew the tree removal project needed to be moved to the top of our to-do list for our home’s safety. I started calling companies in the beginning of October and called four or five that took all my information and never got back to me. It was so frustrating but I wanted this project done before winter hit our area. I decided to give Thumbtack a try and Stumpbusters was one of three companies that responded to my request. Steve, the owner, came out to give us an estimate and was realistic about the challenges of the job: power lines, very small back yard, massive tree, limited access. He seemed knowledgeable, experienced and professional, gave us a competitive estimate and a few days later we decided to hire his company for the job. He worked with my schedule and the weather to set a date for the work to be done and was even willing to help me take down a panel of fence for access to the back yard since my fiancé was scheduled to be out of town. His crew arrived early, they had a guy up in the tree before I knew it and were roping and dropping pieces in no time. The weather was cold and drizzly, but they kept a steady work pace. Although they didn’t need it, I checked on them occasionally, just to make sure they didn’t need anything and to see the progress out of curiosity. When they got to the base of the tree, I was shocked to see how much of it was hollow and rotten. One of the crew pointed out a stress fracture and suspected that if the tree had fallen, which was just a matter of time, it would have done so on our house. I felt like I had dodged a bullet. They also trimmed back another tree so it was not hanging over our house as much. Throughout their work on the trees they functioned very well as a team, professional yet relaxed and confident in their work. I watched as if witnessing an incredible magic trick while my problem tree disappeared. They removed all large debris and ground the stump to fluffy piles of sawdust. Despite a very tight workspace, they did not damage the house or fence and the only evidence was the ruts left by the bobcat, which is understandable since it rained a day or two before. They cleaned up well after themselves, taking special care to remove all evidence of having used my neighbor’s yard for access to my yard. They even got rid of the mess in the street from the chipper. All of this in a day’s work! When they were done, I was so pleased with the quality of the work and the weight that had been lifted by having this problem tree removed. I’m so excited about going into winter without worrying about the tree if we get a snowstorm; now I can enjoy the snow worry free! Stumpbusters did a quality job and gave me peace of mind. I would not hesitate to hire them again for any tree related needs and have full confidence in recommending them to others.
