Electrical and Wiring Repair
Scott with Avico went above and beyond to help us with some electrical repairs in our new home. He didn't quit until he figured out solutions to our issues. He installed a cable jack outlet and fixed several lighting wiring issues. I would definitely hire him again!Sep 20, 2017Verified
Scott is extremely knowledgeable and professional. He has worked on adding additional power receptacles, Ethernet points and wiring for my home theater system. Had no issues whatsoever.May 20, 2019Verified

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I usually meet people for the first time over the phone and engage in their vision of what they want to see, hear, or have in their home. Depending on the area of their home, the request, and level of effort that may be required I try to follow up with an in home consultation. From there we would communicate via phone or email, whatever works best for he or she.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I completed my four year electricians program at Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical College and received my apprentice certificate for required trade-school hours. I have my Level 2 CEDIA certificate for home technology integration. CEDIA is the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association. I also have continued education units from them for home networking, theater installation, project management, administrative project management, and others. I completed quite a few business courses at J. Sargeant Reynolds before moving into my own business. Even though I had some administrative background in my field, I wanted more general knowledge of business. I have my Department of Criminal Justice (DCJS) registration in Electronic Security Systems, but am working on my license. At the moment I can not work on alarm systems as it is a regulated field and requires a bit more paperwork. So, registered but not licensed. Anyone interested, just keep me in mind for the future. It will happen! I have about 11 years of experience in everything from mobile electronics, home electronics, home technology, and electrical service and repair work. Any questions, just ask!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I started out in mobile electronics (cars, trucks, RVs, boats, etc.) just out of high school while taking courses at community college. I fell in love with turning over a finished project and seeing everyone's eyes light up. It's amazing how you can turn someone's day upside down just by being polite, listening to them, and turning over a product that was slightly more than they expected. I then moved into the electrical field where I fell in love with the troubleshooting and service aspect, I didn't want to know that something was broken and needed to be replaced. I wanted to know why, and how to stop it from happening again. This curiosity led me into the home technology field since it was ever changing and seemed a bit more limitless. Which, it is. I've been in this field for over six years and every day is a learning opportunity. I love it!
