Thomas and Amanda, from the moment I contacted them, were extremely quick to respond, answered every single one of my many questions before hiring, even sent me examples and recommendations and clarifications to ensure that my big, special day was carried out in full to the vision I had in my mind. It was very evident that they wanted to make sure my special occasion was exactly as we had dreamed. When I was comparing photographers, it was really important to have a queer friendly photographer, someone who was willing to be flexible with us, and give good creative direction from the photos expertise. They delivered 1 million percent. On the day of the proposal, they arrived on time and waited for me and my fiancé to arrive because we were running late. They did not rush us and 1 million percent made the process extremely fun, creative, endearing, and comfortable. I loved the creative ideas they had for photos and loved that they asked for our input and vision in a collaborative way.
Thomas really captured the essence of me and my fiancé, made intentional effort to get to know key parts of our relationship and personalities so that that he could dynamically take the chemistry and natural ease of the photos to the next level. I’m an awkward guy (in an endearing way), so I had been nervous about the photo shoot being awkward - but it literally was so fun, so comfortable, and a huge delight. They truly added to the experience and with the 2 of them, I have the most beautiful photos capturing all the perfect angles. I had been worried worried about weather and lighting, but they knew exactly what to do to make sure that we captured the moments with perfection and reassured me that they would be flexible if date and time needed to change. But thank goodness, everything was perfect on our day! The weather, the temperature, the decor - everything. Even the VA Beach humidity spared us on this special day and was comfortable - kismet. :)
Moreover, they made us feel special. They truly individualized the experience for us, they were truly interested in our story, and then finding the best way to tell that story through the climax of the proposal.
Thomas really blew my wildest expectations when we turned over a MAGNIFICENT album of hundreds of edited photos in less than a day, because he was THAT committed to giving us the best experience. The nerves and excitement to see the photos after a shoot like that is real, so that extremely quick turn around and the quality and excellence of the photos and editing, really just extended the amazing celebration.
I could not be more happy and excited that What’s the Occasion Photography, Thomas & Amanda, were a part of my special day.
