FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing system is not complicated at all. I charge $300 for the first 4 hours for a party and $500 for the first 4 hours for a wedding because weddings are much more involved. Of course, when the holidays roll around I do charge slightly more...especially for the "prime" days around Christmas and, of course, New Year's Eve. I am also willing to negotiate with clients who may have a limited budget to work with.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The main thing I do is listen to the radio a lot to keep up with the most current and popular music to add to my collection. I typically update my library a couple of times a month so I'm always assured of having the songs people are listening to today. In my opinion, the days of vinyl records are gone which is why I incorporate iPod and laptop technology into my sound system.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As I stated earlier, I got the "d.j. bug" at a young age when my parents gave me a tape recorder at the age of 10. I started doing play-by-plays of football games, recording music off of the radio and playing t.v. show theme games with my family. I guess you could say I was hooked then. After a 4 year stint in the U.S Navy, I decided to go to college and major in communications...specifically t.v. and radio production and direction. A professor of mine recommended me for a job at a local radio station and the rest is history.
