I approach every assignment wether it be a wedding, sporting event, or portrait/family portrait session with the idea that I want to capture you in the image. Not a pose (although we may do some of that) but you. Laughing, crying, hopes, joy and excitement make for incredibly powerful images. If you want genuine photographs of your wedding day or event I am your guy. People! My Wife says that when I get around people I come alive. I enjoy meeting new people and getting to share in their lives for a moment or two and then also share with the world the images I have been able to capture.

Nick (with assistant Rachel) photographed our daughter's wedding in Charlottesville, Va. He met us bright and early in the morning to take photos of the bride getting ready. He then photographed the church ceremony with traditional group portraits afterward. He willingly escorted bride and groom to UVA grounds (their alma mater) for amazing photos there. He then traveled about 40 minutes to a winery in the area for the reception shots. His preliminary photos look simply AMAZING and we can't wait to see the entire package! Nick and Rachel were incredibly pleasant and friendly, and willing to take whatever photos we wanted. But more importantly, Nick used his own talents to capture images that truly depicted the beauty and happiness of the day. He truly has a gifted eye, and his photos have a depth that goes well beyond a snapshot. Other than one slight snafu of getting a bit lost on the way to the winery, everything went flawlessly. Nick and Rachel were there capturing the moments, but you hardly knew they were there at all. We will use Nick again in the future!

Nick was wonderful. For our engagement session he really made the effort to listen and guide us to what we wanted. We brain stormed together to walk to several different locations to get some amazing sunset photos that really caught us in the moment. For our wedding, he not only acted as photographer, but frequently made the time to ensure that all our transitions went smoothly; easing our anxieties to make our day as enjoyable as possible.

We chose Nick as the photographer for our March 17 wedding and wedding party several weeks later. Nick was the first photographer to reply to my Thumbtack post, but that wasn't the reason I chose him. I checked out his website and loved what I saw. I enjoyed the photos of the other weddings he had done, but also the fact that he started with a background in another area - sports photography. Since our wedding was not exactly traditional, I liked that he had a different style, but could still execute the traditional shots most couples want to have. We met with Nick to make sure the fit was right and I could tell immediately that it was. His first step was to listen to us, learn more about us, our relationship, our plans for the day and what we wanted in our pictures. We just liked his openness, friendliness and unpretentious attitude. I could tell that Nick was going to be that perfect combination of responsive to us but also would make recommendations where he saw fit, using his professional eye and experience. On our wedding day, Nick could not have done a better job. He was so accommodating to our needs, never made us feel like we were asking too much, went to three different locations to shoot pictures, and most importantly made us feel comfortable in what is certainly not a typical day for anyone! He took the shots we wanted but also made great suggestions on shots we might not have thought of and took some fantastic candids just as we were walking to and from each setting for the day. Finally, we got the pictures about a week after the wedding and they are outstanding! So professional, great use of lighting and focus. I don't know the proper terms to use to describe the style of pictures, but I just love them. One of the most important things about Nick is that he gives you the pictures of your wedding - that's included in the price. It's incredible to just have them, either up on a website where you can download them or on a thumbdrive, without having to feel limited because you can only select a certain number. We still have our wedding party to do next weekend, and I'm excited for the additional pictures of family and friends we'll get at that event. I know Nick will do a fantastic job and we'll just have even more great pictures to go through when it's all done. I would not hesitate to use Nick's services again and will absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding or event photographer.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly working on sharpening my skills as a photographer. Some times that means new equipment and other times it means setting up mock shoots or learning from some online educational and training videos.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently had the incredible opportunity to shoot a NFL game in Indianapolis. It was a surreal experience being down on the field for the entire game standing among some other incredible sports photographers.
