I reached out to Onasis to rebuild my deck. I asked for proof of a business license and insurance. I was told he only provides that information for jobs over $10,000. Huh?For my own protection, I believe all contractors—regardless of project size (my quote was $2400)—should be willing to provide that simple documentation. Especially since I asked him those things at the consultation and he said yes. Also, he tried to add on $150 "for taxes"... If you don't have a business license, how are you charging "for taxes?" Just be honest if the quote was too low originally. This raised a red flag for me, and I chose not to move forward. He was, however, on time, pleasant, and professional at the consultation. I believe he can do the work and I really wanted to work with him. I'm just sad that I was lied to.
