- How did you get started doing this type of work?
One day I found an old, worn out Santa suit at a yard sale and got it on a lark... I put it on and the children at my church made the experience so much fun I was hooked from the first time! The first upgrade was to replace the fake, cotton-ball beard-n-wig with a more realistic number from the costume store... what a difference it made! After that my Mom made me a new, custom suit and I decided my real beard was better than the fake one... it's been getting better each season with the addition of another custom suit and my wife has even gotten into it with her own adorable little red Grandma Clause suit as you can see from the pictures!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my appearances recently are with Roanoke City Libraries, Happy's Flea Market and private parties. But I have appeared at Corporate parties for Kroger Co. and on several different Christmas Eves at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs Virginia.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
People should really ask for and check references, and remember that Santa is a person, too, just as capable of making mistakes as anyone else. Look for sincerity!
