This was the most efficient, most intelligent and down to earth computer guy I've ever encountered. He solved my problem on time, under budget, and the computer works like a charm now. I love the way he explains what he did and makes word-pictures of the process. The knowledge he has is astounding and I will continue to call on him for any type of computer problem. My problems were serious including recovering data and installing a new hard drive, as well as adding much needed RAM memory.

My 10-year-old Windows XP desktop had been dead for 5 years, and it contained many photos and documents that had never been backed up. I bought a new computer and stuck the desktop in a closet, thinking Id lost everything on it. Recently, I realized the desktop might be useful in another project (since it had a Firewire port and none of my other computers did). Thumbtack invited me to request quotes for data recovery on this machine. Rob Garcia, the proprietor of Performance Computing LLC, responded within 24 hours (on a weekend, no less). He explained the processes he could follow to attempt recovery, the possibility that those processes might fail, and his assurance that no fee would be owed to him unless the data was recovered.
Instead of asking me to remove the hard drive and mail it to him (like most data recovery outifts), Rob agreed to meet me at a mutually convenient location and take the desktop back to his workshop for examination. Within 3 days, he told me that he had been able to reboot the hard drive and recover all of the data on it which he had stored on a DVD. The day after that, the desktop and the DVD were back in my hands. Throughout the process, Rob communicated in clear laymans language what he had found and what was needed to fix things. Its hard to imagine a better experience with data recovery, at a cost WAY below what any larger firm was proposing to charge and with prompt, friendly service. Highly recommended.
