Introduction: My name is Julia Tinker. I live in Round Hill, Virginia. I am a lifelong resident of Loudoun County and have been pet sitting informally for the past 25 years. I am a full-time Montessori teacher. However, my animal magnetism and love for animals became apparent at a very young age. Growing up in the country, I had a menagerie of animals ranging from cats and dogs to llamas. I was their caretaker, vet and mommy. I began doing odd pet sitting jobs for friends and neighbors when I was old enough to ride my bike to the far end of the village where I was living. In middle school, I began volunteering with the Loudoun Therapeutic Handicapped Riding Foundation. In 2000, I was Junior Leader of the 4-H "Loudoun Llama Lovers" Club. With a lifelong passion for helping people, love for animals and the desire to own my own business, I decided that I would put my passion for people and my love for animals together and start my own pet sitting business. With much research and thought I began a professional pet sitting business in 2009. I am anxious to put my animal magnetism to work for you and am ready for you and your beloved pets. I am a member of Pet Sitters International, Pet Sitters Association, United Pet Sitters and Northern Virginia Professional Pet Sitters Network. In February 2009, I completed an in-depth "Pet Sitter Accreditation" Program through Pet Sitters International. In addition to owning my own pet sitting business I have four cats who are all 10+ years old. I have had these cats since they were 1 year old. I have a fish tank with a variety of freshwater fish. Over the years, I have had several dogs, and raised llamas.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I am a professional pet sitting service which performs in-home pet care services to my clients. I provide vacation visits (30-45 minutes), quick visits (15-20 minutes) and overnight stays (12 hour minimum stays) in your home.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I advise anyone looking for a pet sitter to meet the person who will be caring for your pet and see how they interact with your pet and watch how your pet responds to them. Body language tells you alot. Make sure the pet sitter has an established business and is willing to provide references to you upon request. Look for someone who is licensed, bonded and insured. These are just a few things to consider when hiring a pet sitter.
