FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Editing services are $30/hour and include both copy edits (grammar, punctuation, mechanics) and line edits (content-related changes and suggestions to enhance coherence, consistency, and meaning). Copywriting services are $45/hour and include the creation of original material written by me based upon your list of must-have information. Proofreading services are $15/hour and include a thorough review for grammar, mechanics, and overall meaning/usefulness of the text. You will receive commentary on the overall text, but it is a general review in comparison to the line-by-line feedback given during editing. After hiring, all online and telephone consultation time is billed at the same rate as the service contracted. Prices are negotiable with combinations and subsets of services (e.g., proofreading with minor edits or proofreading with copywriting at the weak spots). A contract will be signed by both parties designated the work to be completed and the hourly rate. I do not provide fact-checking services. Please ensure all technical-, trade-, and research-specific materials are correct prior to my involvement in the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In October 2014 I completed my Master's degree in English and Creative Writing. I also earned a TESOL certification in teaching English as a Second Language, separate of my university studies. I have over three years of experience providing writing services and one year of experience in teaching college level composition (English 111 and 112).
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began by reading over documents for friends and family, serving as a second or third set of eyes to make sure all was well before submittal for school, work, and other projects. It evolved into an ideal way to earn money while using pre-existing interests. As I became further educated, the value of my input increased. I began a formally licensed business in 2013.
