Introduction: I am a native Spanish speaker, and I'm a professional with a BA in Sciences with a master's degree in public health. I have more than 10 years of experience providing Spanish instruction in Virginia. I have worked with students at Berlitz Language Center and Diplomatic Language Services. I also have had incredible success working with private students at their home. During my career as a Spanish instructor, I have made the learning process interesting for my students using videos, music, books, flashcards and games to enhance the learning experience. I have lived and worked in South and Central America and have traveled around several Spanish speaking countries and to other countries around the world. This has enriched my life and my perspective about different cultures, characteristic that I apply and bring to the classroom as an important tool for the teaching and learning process making this both interesting and enjoyable for my students. I worked with Hilda to brush up on my Spanish in preparing for a work assignment overseas. In a few short weeks, I improved a lot thanks to her classes, which were a good mix of speaking, reading, listening, and watching videos.

I'm in the foreign service and have trained long-term for professional-level fluency in three different languages (including at the Foreign Service Institute twice). Hilda is one of the best and most knowledgeable language teachers I have had (which has been over two-dozen). She's highly professional and was able to gauge my training to my learning-style and abilities very quickly. In addition, her level of knowledge of the language was very highly regarded by other Spanish-language teachers I've had. If you've studied a foreign language at a high level, then you're probably aware that not every native speaker is equal in his/her grammatical knowledge and vocabulary (I once had a teacher in a different language who didn't have vocabulary outside of daily-life usage). Hilda has a very in-depth understanding of grammar as well as specialized vocabulary in diplomacy, politics, business/economy, science/technology, the environment, culture, and the issues of the day. Most of all, she is a joy to be around. My level of speaking and reading is now ABOVE the 3/3 requirement of my employer! I'm thrilled, and I can't recommend Hilda highly enough!

Learning Spanish from Hilda is fun and achieves rapid progress. She tailors the classes to meet the student's goals and interests, so you can find yourself singing songs, reading anything from children's stories to newspaper articles, depending on your level of comprehension, and discussing movies, politics, or the antics of your dog, all in Spanish. She is always professional and friendly, can answer all your grammar questions, and arrives prepared. It is an uplifting experience to spend time with such a positive, thinking, dedicated teacher. She's the best there is!

I perform a practical assessment about the customer basic skills and based on that I plan the training approach
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor in dietetics and nutrition and a master degree in Public Health . Both include a strong component of education techniques and strategies , even though these education techniques are oriented to change the feeding practices, they are basically the same for any educational process. From 2003 through now I have received a lot of hands-on training about specific language teaching techniques.
