FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common types of jobs are houses that need a new roof. I ALWAYS tear off the old roof materials so I can check out the roof decking to see if there's any rot or mold. I will never put a new roof on top of an old roof. Mainly because it voids the warranty on the new roof. I apply an 8 inch galvanized drip edge to the perimeter of the roof. Then I apply 2 courses of adhesive ice and water shield to all the eaves and cover the remainder of the roof in a vynil underpayment which I nail to the roof decking. Nail on all the shingles with inch and a half roofing nails. Put on a vented shingled ridge cap to all peaks. Pick up and haul away all trash and excess materials.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am very proud of roofing the new Hermitage Club base lodge, as it is one of the most beautiful and rustic buildings I have ever seen. All the timber frame archways and cedar shake siding and huge windows to see hundreds of miles of the beautiful Vermont landscape are all breath taking. It makes me proud to be a part of this community.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Although I may be young, (26) I learned everything I know from the best. There's always new tools coming out to make even the hardest jobs not seem so bad, so I've been keeping up with the times and I learn something new every day.
