FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got started in construction because I was always drawn to building and improving properties — not just cosmetically, but structurally and strategically. What began as hands-on work quickly turned into managing full renovation projects and seeing the real impact quality construction has on a home’s value and a family’s life. Over the years, I moved from working in the field to running projects end-to-end — budgeting, scheduling, coordinating crews, handling permits, and making sure everything meets Washington State code requirements. As I gained experience, I built Blue Lake Construction with a clear vision: run construction like a professional business — organized, transparent, milestone-based payments, and strong communication — instead of the typical “contractor chaos” homeowners often experience. Today, we focus on delivering clean execution, realistic timelines, and results that increase long-term property value. What started as hands-on building turned into a full-service, professionally managed construction company.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
We’ve worked with a wide range of clients, including: • Homeowners renovating primary residences • Real estate investors flipping or adding value to properties • Rental property owners upgrading units • Clients preparing homes for sale • Insurance-related restoration projects • Commercial property owners and small business tenants • Government and public-sector projects Our experience spans residential, commercial, and government work — which means we understand higher compliance standards, structured documentation, scheduling discipline, and strict code requirements. Many of our clients are busy professionals who value organization, communication, and clear timelines. They’re looking for a contractor who runs projects professionally — with written scopes, milestone-based payments, proper permits, and accountability at every stage. We’re especially a good fit for customers who: • Care about quality and long-term durability • Want transparent pricing and structured project management • Expect professionalism and reliability • View construction as a serious investment Whether it’s a residential remodel, commercial improvement, public-sector project, or full renovation, we focus on delivering results that meet standards and increase long-term property value.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
One recent project we’re especially proud of was a full interior renovation of a 2,400 sq ft home in Bellevue, WA (Eastgate area). The property was built in the late 1980s and hadn’t been updated in over 20 years. The layout felt closed off, the kitchen was outdated, and there were several code-related issues we had to address during demolition — including improper venting and older electrical wiring that needed upgrading. Scope of work included: • Full kitchen remodel (custom shaker cabinets, quartz countertops, 9-ft island, under-cabinet lighting) • Removing a non-load-bearing wall to open the kitchen to the living area • Two complete bathroom renovations (tile showers, new vanities, updated plumbing fixtures) • LVP flooring throughout the main level • Interior repaint (walls, trim, doors) • Recessed lighting installation and electrical panel updates • Permit coordination and inspections through the City of Bellevue The project took 9 weeks from demolition to final walkthrough. We structured the job in milestones — demo & rough-in, inspections, drywall & flooring, cabinetry & finishes — and the client only paid after each stage was completed. One challenge we solved was discovering subfloor water damage in the master bathroom after demolition. We repaired and reinforced the framing before moving forward, which prevented future issues and kept everything compliant with Washington State building codes. The finished result completely transformed the home into a modern, open-concept space and significantly increased its market value. The client later mentioned they received offers above asking price when they refinanced. Projects like this are rewarding because they combine design, structural improvement, and smart investment strategy — not just cosmetic upgrades.
