I am a Montessori-certified early childhood and elementary teacher in
Bellevue, WA. My experience includes over 20 years of classroom teaching,
homeschooling my own six children, and tutoring. I strive to help you support your child in the best ways possible.
I love to teach reading to children 4-7 years old. According to Maria
Montessori, this is when children are most interested in learning to read. I use the phonetic approach with hands-on learning materials, even online. You will have free access to downloadable materials for your children to use during our sessions, as well as in between classes. Having these will allow your children to focus and concentrate. Interacting with concrete materials helps them understand reading concepts.
I also teach language arts and writing composition to elementary students of all ages with a Montessori approach. Learning grammar, word study, mechanics, editing, and composition is easy, if you have the right approach for the individual child. Your children will learn how to create outlines and summarize succinct paragraphs. They will learn what composes a good paragraph and how to do this on their own.
Montessori learning is a wonderful foundation for any child. Through this lens, we can identify children's strengths and interests as well as areas for growth. From there we design a plan that nurtures their hearts. This also fosters cognitive skills. I aim to inspire a love of learning.
Early learning opens up amazing new doors of enjoyment at an age when children's imaginations are prime! Reading especially, gives them skills to find answers on their own and to nurture their own curiosity and interests. It provides enjoyment in reading to siblings and friends. Early reading sets children up to be confident readers and leaders from an early age!

and practice using multi-letter phonograms in words
