My husband and I hired Jim and his crew at Emerald City Construction Services to build our deck off the back of the house. Jim came in and assessed our project and advised us on specific product and gave us a more than fair bid for our project. We did hire him, Jim and his crew came in the first day they had prep, framing for the deck and almost half of the top of the deck laid. They finished it up the next day complete through clean up. They were fast proficient, and professional. My husband and I are now discussing a bathroom project that we will have Jim come in and bid for us, and will hire him on that project as well. We found Jim's information through a service at Home Depot and sent him an e-mail and within a few hours we received a phone call from Jim. He was very informative and helpful and most importantly honest. We hired Jim and he was able to meet with us and consolidate our needs for our room addition. This was no cake walk project. He was able to explain the process of hiring a contractor and how everything would work from the start to the finish of the project. Jim had excellent suggestions and ideas. His contractors were also very helpful and handled themselves in a professional manner. Jim delivers quality and timely work. Most importantly he is there to ensure the work is completed accurately and up to your standards. We are very satisfied customers and will use again for future needs.

My wife and I hired Jim and his crew at Emerald City Construction Services to replace our Porch/Deck. He came August 20 to look and gave estimate.We are waiting for another Company to come and look at it and give estimate.The company did not show up.I called Jim on friday August 22 that he got the project. He said he will call me when he is not busy to give a real estimate. The next day,We got the estimate via E-mail which we approved. August 25, he send a one man wrecking crew for the deck. He did the dismantling by himself, very carefully not to break the newly installed glass window on the den. We appreciated that very much. Also, another crew delivered the materials that will be used for the deck. The next day, they started building our new deck. The job was in Renton and Emerald City Construction is from Edmonds. That was a long commute. We appreciated the work they did on my porch. The cemented part of our porch is sinking. They raised it up about 3 inches to level it with the front door. That was beyond of what they did. The work was done and finished in a couple of days. Also, they did a very good job cleaning and removing the debris. They did a very good job building our DECK and PORCH.They are real professional of what they do. We are very satisfied with the OUTCOME. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will set up a preliminary appointment to define the scope of work and then move onto giving a written estimate if requested.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
My father is a 45 year carpenter now retired. I did my first construction project when I was nine years old. I helped my dad excavate the basement of the house I grew up in. We poured the walls by hand and my dad finished the basement out. That is how I got my own room. My brother is also a 30 year carpenter.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We do lots of decks, fences, and siding installations and lately we have done some basement finishes. We also install sun-rooms, and do kitchen and bath renovation
