I have two published middle-grade fiction books on the market.
There are several different types of editing that I do, which I have outlined below. I have also provided a brief overview of my experience, not all of which, is included.
I have done copyediting, developmental editing, and ghostwriting for many books by other authors. I am open-minded and will work on projects that deal with almost any subject. To my credit, I recently did ghostwriting on a murder mystery/Horror novel, I have done in-depth Statement of Work (SOW) for contractors, edited and provided ghostwriting on True crime, fiction, non-fiction, mystery, horror, and autobiographies, and memoirs.
Besides editing and writing my own books, I obtained a “CompTIA A+” certification, as well as a “CompTIA Project +” certification to work as a project manager related to IT work as well as certifying me as a computer repair technician. I even owned my own mobile computer, tablet, and cellphone repair business and operated a fully-powered ambulance as my rolling office and workshop.
When I talk about ghostwriting, I don’t mean I write about ghosts, however, I do that too, as I have been a paranormal investigator since 2007. In the writing and editing world, though, Ghostwriting refers to adding of my ideas to the story and bringing out character backstories; adding complete scenes to enhance the storyline, or even writing the entire book using the character ideas and plot idea that a client provides me; creating dialogue between characters where only a narrative of what the characters said to each other; and providing levity where appropriate.
Copyediting includes proofreading for spelling, grammar, punctuation, making sure you are using consistent tenses between past and present, checking the general flow of the manuscript, along with proper formatting using APA guidelines. I believe in the creative mind of the author and then what I can offer to make your book the best it can be, presenting ideas to you along the way.
Development editing includes making sure the story flows and keeps the interest of readers, makes sure tenses or point-of-view is appropriate, often referred to first-person or third-person, copyediting for spelling, grammar, and punctuation; and suggesting ideas and scenes which can be ghostwritten into the story if the customer wishes it.
I decided to work with Thumbtack in hopes I would be able to edit and ghostwrite more manuscripts. My focus is on quality; making sure there are no spelling, grammatical, tense issues, or punctuation errors as well as formatting the manuscript correctly and making your ideas flow as they should.
