When it was time for our son to begin piano (7 yrs), we spoke with a number of local teachers. Our son gave responses after being introduced to them that ranged from "Meh" to the startling response of "I just didn't trust that woman." When he met Randy, though, we knew we had found the right teacher for him. We left and our son immediately said "THAT is my piano teacher." Every lesson has been wonderful. My son reaches the end of class time and almost always expresses disappointment that the lesson is over. I had heard horror stories about the struggles of getting a child to practice, but Randy seems to 'get' my child and what practice habits and teaching style is going to work for him. His teaching seems quite modern and thoughtful and he keeps lessons interesting. As such, more often that not, our son is happy to practice and frequently chooses to voluntarily. My son LOVES piano and looks forward to his lesson every week. He is moving along steadily at his own pace. Randy exhibits a gentle patience, intermixed with enthusiasm which has made learning a wonderful and rewarding process for my son. If you're looking for an instructor for your child, I can, without reservation, recommend Randy.

My son has been a student of Randy's for about 9 months and we've been very happy with him for a teacher. My son enjoys his lessons a lot and I feel he has been getting great instruction while being challenged to stretch and grow as a pianist. Randy has high expectations, but is very patient at the same time. He has a great love for music and the piano, and I love that my son can be exposed to that enthusiasm so his own love for music can grow. He is in a group lesson with one other boy and it's turned out to be a great arrangement and a really fun way to learn.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

With very young students we focus on getting oriented at the piano, singing, and playing familiar children's music by ear. Young students love to work with engaging method books and learn music by rote. We also work on developing a solid foundation by practicing finger independence and correct technique. Piano Lessons for Young Artists (students 8 and older) Piano lessons at the Center focus intensively on the classical literature for piano. Lessons help develop the talents of brilliant young artists that will make piano a major part of their life. These students demonstrate a passion for music and a talent for learning by developing smart practicing habits to perform and compete at top levels.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When you look for a piano teacher, don't bargain shop. Find the best piano teacher you can afford, and try out a few to make sure you get the best fit for your student. Always purchase an acoustic piano as keyboards and digital pianos will limit the technical and expressive opportunities for your student.
