As noted from our office as you were expecting free work after work was performed: I think we're looking at this from two different perspectives. The repair was quoted onsite before any work was performed, and you approved that price before authorizing us to proceed. If you felt the pricing wasn't acceptable, you were under no obligation to move forward with the repair. Comparing our pricing afterward to another company's quote doesn't change the fact that the work was performed at the price you agreed to. Every company has different pricing structures, overhead, warranties, and operating costs. I don't think it's reasonable to expect a business to perform additional work at no charge simply because you believe it should only take a few more minutes. Our pricing isn't based on a stopwatch or the cost of a few dollars in materials. It reflects the entire cost of operating a licensed, insured plumbing company. That includes employing experienced journeyman plumbers per Washington State guidelines, maintaining licensing, bonding and insurance, fully stocked service vehicles, specialized tools, fuel, office staff, scheduling, warranties, and being available when customers need us. Those costs exist whether a repair takes 15 minutes or two hours. The repair you requested was quoted onsite before any work began, and you approved that price. The second valve was a separate repair and was not part of the authorized scope of work. If both valves had been approved at the same time, the second repair would have only been an additional $75 because our technician was already onsite. That was already discounted from what a separate visit would have cost. It's not fair to ask a company to perform work for free after the agreed-upon work has been completed simply because another repair is nearby. We completed exactly what was quoted and authorized, and we stand behind that work. While I understand you're disappointed, we can't agree that additional work should be completed at no charge simply because it's adjacent to the original repair. We completed exactly the work that was quoted, approved, and authorized.
