Jeff was my daughter's music teacher in elementary school in Oroville, My daughter (now 9, she had him from the time she was about ages 5 to age 8) took voice lessons from him outside of school, I also took piano lessons myself from Jeff. Jeff is so much fun and so very very talented. I can't say enough good things about him, you'll be so happy to have him as part of your team. He's energetic, and so great with kids and adults alike. So incredibly musically talented it is amazing. I love hearing him perform. I used to have a nick name for Jeff that he may or may not know about, I called him the "kindergarten king" because the kids loved him so much they would jump up and down with excitement if they knew they would have him for class that day. Most defiantly with out a doubt hire Mr. Gee.

I hired this band for my parents anniversary party on April 1, 2017. It was intended to be a surprise party for their 55th year of marriage but the word leaked out to my mom. The part she didn't know about was that there would be live music. I contacted the band, the "Funaddicts", and after several quick and responsive communications with Robert, I hired their 50's/60's project "Bobby Sox & the Jukebox" to perform nostalgic music for the party. Throughout the evening I heard literally every, young and old, talking about the band and how fantastic they were! The music was so great, the vocals and instrumentals were truly spot on and people in the crowd were asking me where I found this band. If I had to name the band I would call them "The Fantastics" because that's really what they were! I would highly recommend them to anyone and that's exactly what I will do when I continue to talk about the great party we had. Than you, "Fundaddicts", for completing a night for my parents that they said they will never forget! Pauline Renick

I am a bit of an audiophile so I'm picky about music and bands. These guys are excellent musicians. They have an extensive list of songs they cover and each song was played extraordinarily well. Definitely recommend them to a friend; but I don't have to because my friends were here and they loved the band too. Dave Orr Kelso Wa

Lauren was able to accommodate a last minute request to play at my son's rehearsal dinner, when the musician we had hired had a medical emergency. As it turned out, I was SO much happier with Lauren and her harp than I would have been with a Jazz band - she provided the perfect accompaniment to an intimate gathering of close friends and family of the bride and groom. She plays beautifully, and I highly recommend her!

Pyramid Scheme was everything we hoped for and more. The interaction with them before, during and after the performance was perfect. Their repotoire is excellent, they adjusted the sound level right to the size of the room and the crowd, normal discussions were still possible without loosing any intensity of the songs played. Even joining the band to play a few numbers together using their instruments was possible. Would definately hire Pyramid Scheme again if we need entertainment in the area.

They did the best classics, and new stuff too, it was so fun! So nice to have a real live band and not a DJ. We were getting compliments on the band all night. Such a great time! Thanks Highsteppers, you rock.

Dan Kramlich is the best! Dan's grunge trio performed at my wedding ceremony and for the cocktail reception afterwards. My family and friends raved at how wonderful the music was. I had attended a few of his grunge trio's performances and contacted Dan to have him perform at my wedding. It was the first wedding decision my husband & I made - even before picking a venue, date or anything else. Before the wedding, I provided Dan with a list of songs for the ceremony and he was incredibly thorough about asking questions to better understand the length of the procession (and therefore estimated timing of songs and cut offs for the music) as well as dress code for the band. Dan was very prompt and responsive to all emails prior to the wedding for questions we and our venue had. At the wedding, they showed up early to set up and performed the music wonderfully. It says a lot to trust someone enough to let them play live music you walk down the aisle to. My husband and I were very happy about the results and our wedding guests could not have been more delighted. It was fun to watch their faces light up and exclaim, "Wait... I know this song!" We'd hire Dan again in a heartbeat.

We are very happy with Bloomfield Music's service! The 3 piece band we requested included piano, flute, and cello. They sounded wonderful, were very professional, accommodating, and well prepared. They played a mix of classical and contemporary/pop pieces for my husband's 50th birthday party. Highly recommended!

About

We bring in a great crowd, once they hear us and know we are returning. This is the advantage of having professional groups rather than those that are not. Every time we play a club or lounge, we have more and more people come back to hear us, and enjoy our music. As performers, we put on a great show, and dress accordingly.

I used to go see K. W. and his band play in the Bremerton, WA area. After hearing him play I wanted to learn to sound like that. He has been a major influence in my playing. I strongly endorse him.

    About

I guess that would depend on which service we're referring to here; as far as karaoke goes I feel that it's because I add to the performance of the singer by playing assorted instruments, backing vocals, and an above average mix. These things combine to create a much more authentic feel for a singer. As far as instruction, I use a much more informal and flexible style that I feel is less rigid for a new student and allows for more creativity and enhanced advancement.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
