FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer several different pricing options depending on the type of client and the size of the business, if any, seeking intellectual property protection services. Generally, services are offered on a flat fee basis to avoid the uncertainty associated with hourly billing.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first step is to conduct an intake interview to determine the nature of subject matter to be protected, the status of any efforts to promote or commercialize the subject matter and the potential risks of loss of rights arising from past actions (e.g., prior public disclosures, etc.). After the intake interview, an intellectual property roadmap is established to determine what forms of protection are most appropriate. Lastly, once a roadmap is determined, an intellectual property filing strategy will be created and executed to achieve the protection, licensing or enforcement goals of each client.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My educational background is in electrical engineering while my practical experience is in software engineering, systems engineering, system integration, large-scale systems testings, computer architecture, communications, microelectronics and integrated circuit design. I hold an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from MIT, a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington, and two law degrees from the Franklin Pierce Law Center.
