FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Although Ive done several complete home designs, I have most recently been helping my clients achieve their vision by offering guidance with my design coaching services, which vary greatly. A recently widowed lady was selling her home of many years, and downsizing to a condo. Editing her much loved furniture was the necessary first step. I was happy to help her with what she felt would be a difficult process. Once we knew what pieces were most important to her, we were able to create a beautiful look in her new space just by adding some fresh color, new pillows, art and accessories, and keeping the pieces that gave her the warm feeling of home. One professional young man had a good start on furnishing his condo but needed some help pulling it all together with an edgy, urban feel. I created a retail plan for him to complete at his own pace which included specific recommendations, photos and pricing for functional furniture with storage solutions, cool contemporary lighting, and the perfect art and accessories with a rustic industrial theme that he was thrilled with.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I suggest spending some time on the phone and meeting in person before hiring a designer. It is imperative that you start with a good connection and have open communication throughout the process for an optimum result. I take pride in being a good listener and understanding the style and needs of my customers. One client of mine referred to me as her designer soul mate, a title which makes me very happy!
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Even if you feel that you're not sure of your style or where to begin, it is important for you to think through your own needs, wants and ideas for the room. A great way to find inspiration is to browse the Internet, my Pinterest collection of room ideas, or decorating magazines, making note of the things you like...colors, lighting, or even just the vibe you're attracted to. This can save you time and money and be a great place for your designer to begin to create a room plan specifically for you that you'll love for years.
