I had been procrastinating on filing for bankruptcy for a long time. I have used Thumbtack before and decided to try it again. Ashley was super fast with a response and we e-mailed back and forth almost immediately. She told me to let her know if she could match other quotes I received, and was very clear on the benefits of using Start Fresh Northwest. She quoted me a great price that included a partial payment to the court, which made the payment process easier. I felt great about our interactions so I chose her company. I met with her partner Delaina, and she met me at my neighborhood Starbucks twice, once to go over the contract and the 2nd time to do the actual paper work. They are both super flexible and would have done most everything over phone and fax if that is what I wanted. The process was emotional for me, and both Ashley and Delaina were awesome. They responded to my phone calls, e-mails and texts immediately, and made me feel better when I had concerns when other people, not bankruptcy attorneys offered their 2 cents about filing for bankruptcy. We are almost done, with a hearing coming up and I'm relieved it's almost over. I am all about customer service and Fresh Start Northwest totally gets it! It has also been nice working with a company run by women. Lawyers can be intimidating and I often felt like I was talking to a friend when voicing concerns. I never felt like any question was to small or stupid to ask. Use them! You won't regret it!

Dellino Law group is amazing I hired them for my divorce after I had spent thousands on another lawyer and nothing was accomplished. Dellino Law group, gave me an initial 1 hr free consultation, I met michelle and Hugo after meeting other attorneys and they were the first ones that said what they would do for me. paid my retainer, they handled everything in a quick manor and to the point. Got my divorce settlement and at the end I had a balance remaining, how many times have you heard of that? They both know the law, smart sharp and to the point.

My review is a bit lengthy, however please read it, I feel this Law Firm deserves my gratification and you deserve to hear from a pleased client. I was extremely happy with the outcome of my divorce case. I did not have to go to court and was able to settle things in mediation. I had the opportunity to meet the Office Manager/ Paralegal/ on her way to be a Legal Technician (impressive) Christine. She did my intake. Christine was so understanding and comforting. I knew this was a good start and a good sign. Then I spoke with Associate Attorney Brian Neuharth. He really didn't have to take time out of his schedule to talk to me about my case before Managing Attorney Mike Moceri was ready to meet with me, yet he did. My divorce case would seem to be an easy one, but there were twists and turns that made it unusually a bit more difficult than it needed to be. I wanted and needed the help. Mike did not have to take my case, but he did even though we both discussed that he would be in trial the day of my mediation, and one of his associate attorneys would accompany me in mediation. However, he would go to trial with me if it indeed had to go to trial. There were only 3 weeks before mediation and the Law Firm still took my case. Brian Holden was the Associate Attorney scheduled to be with me during mediation. Having him there was a huge relief and worth every penny. I truly feel my outcome would not have been as successful as it was without the support and assistance of Brian in addition to the backing of the Law Firm. Every single staff member that I encountered showed more concern about my case than expected. I know they have many clients other than me, but I sure feel like they went above and beyond to assured me they would do their best, yet also very forthcoming of worst-case scenarios based on their experience and how the law interprets a case like mine. My comfort and right away huge reduction of stress was greatly put at ease. In my mind, knowing that the worst-case scenario from them, I felt, would be better than any worst-case scenario I could have possibly gotten for myself. Bonus, I got exactly what I wanted and the help that I needed to make that possible. The outcome was better than I could have expected. If you take the time and go to their website and see the BIOS about the many memberships, accreditations and awards that they have, it shows, and I see why they received all these awards. Rightfully so! I assure you I knew nothing about this Law Firm, aside from what their website said before I hired them; my review is genuine. I wanted to share my experience, so others don’t miss the opportunity to work with this Law Firm. Go meet them in person, you will see! Will I hire them again if I need an attorney for any of the other services they provide? Most definitely yes!

Chris is one of the hardest working attorneys I've ever met. He truly cares about his clients and always works to get them the best possible outcome, considering their individual circumstances. Chris has prepared estate plans for myself and my parents, and at an extremely reasonable rate. I have referred friends and family members to him over the years and they always have wonderful things to say about Chris. If you are considering an estate plan, bankruptcy or need general legal advice, don't hesitate to call Chris!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

      • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
      • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
      • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
      • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
      • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
      • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
      • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What kind of lawyer does wills?

No one likes talking about death, but it’s better than leaving your children or siblings to sort out your estate. A clearly planned will can make the time of mourning easier for everyone. An estate attorney will develop a legal will, create trusts on your behalf, and ensure the proper execution of your estate after you pass away.

Family attorneys and estate attorneys, also called probate and wills attorneys, can each prepare wills. The type of lawyer best suited to prepare your will depends on your situation. Most family attorneys provide services to prepare basic wills, including bequeathing property and personal items to family or naming a guardian for minor children. However, estate attorneys specialize in preparing wills in more complex situations. Consider hiring an estate attorney if you:

      • Have a large number of assets, especially those subject to estate taxes
      • Want to create a trust, such as allowing a spouse to live in your home until he or she dies and then leaving it to your children, or set up long-term care for a beneficiary
      • Have an ownership stake in a business
      • Expect someone to contest your will
      • Want to disinherit your spouse

How much does it cost to have a living will?

Either a family attorney or an estate, or wills, attorney can help you prepare a living will, either as part of your general estate planning or as an individual document. The cost typically ranges from $250 to $500, depending on your attorney’s fees; some charge by the hour, while others have a flat rate for writing a living will. Some states require living wills to be notarized, which adds an average of $5 to $15. In a living will — also called an advanced healthcare directive — you specify whether you want to be kept on life support if you become terminally ill or lapse into a persistent vegetative state. You can also answer other important questions in a living will like your preferences for tube feeding, artificial hydration and pain medication in situations when you cannot communicate your wishes on your own.

Do I need a real estate lawyer?

Whether you need a real estate lawyer depends on what kind of legal assistance you need. In many states (such as Vermont and Maine), you are required to hire a real estate lawyer to handle the closing documents of a home sale. The lawyer may prepare the deed, examine the title, review purchase and sale paperwork, work directly with the lender, and more. In title states such as California and Nevada, you do not need a real estate lawyer to buy or sell a home. Typically sales are handled by escrow agents, title companies or lenders. However, you may opt to hire a real estate lawyer to handle closing — even if it’s not required — to ensure your interests are protected.

You may also need a real estate lawyer are when you are negotiating a large property purchase or development deal, or if you are declaring bankruptcy or have a property that’s going into foreclosure. If a property dispute has escalated beyond mediation, a real estate lawyer can advocate for your interests. If you prefer to remain (relatively) anonymous in property ownership, you may have a real estate lawyer represent you and negotiate deals for you. It can be a costly investment, with national average hourly rates ranging from $150 to $350 or more, but legal representation can offer peace of mind and protection of your financial interests.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
