Nice to meet you! I'm Shelby, the Creative Director of Shine Event Design. I founded this company to help people like you celebrate every great moment in life. We provide a full spectrum of event planning services that consistently win rave reviews from our clients and their guests. From wedding days to intimate dinner parties and every celebration in between, we love making each event completely unique for the people being celebrated. In addition to planning and coordination, our studio provides boutique floral design services that are uniquely designed for your celebration. We offer these services separate from our planning services or in combination- as it best fits your needs. Our clients tell us that their guests are still raving about their event (even months after it has happened)!
I've been party planning for my entire life. As a child, I threw the best parties in the land and, as a professional, I continue to exceed my client's expectations for their big days and life milestones. When selecting venues together, developing floral design, brainstorming thoughtful gifts for guests, selecting the perfect dessert, or building a vendor dream team for your event, I have a great time getting to better know my clients and suggesting small ways to leave a lasting impression on the guests at their wedding, celebration or party.

Is there a character limit to these reviews? Because I simply cannot say enough great things about Shelby! We were one of the many couples who had to postpone our April 2020 wedding because of covid, and we were finally able to have it on April 30th, 2022. Shelby worked with us the entire time without fail, and through the reschedules we had to make, as well as a venue change since our first venue shut down at the end of 2021. She was absolutely instrumental in the planning of our wedding and the execution of the day itself. As far as my POV was concerned, she is magic - things just happened, flowed, were entirely perfect. She flawlessly took care of coordinating everything that day, handled our vendors, got what minimal decorations we did have put in place. She even found a really cool display thing to put our wedding favors in that happened to be at the venue! She also had my back when our (amazing!) photographers and videographer were getting a bit intense and checked in with me to make sure I wasn't getting too overwhelmed. She is so incredibly kind, caring, thorough, flexible; just amazing. She was a huge key part in making our day happen at all and making it just wonderful for us. I almost wish I could have another wedding to work with her again! I can't recommend her services enough; you will absolutely NOT be disappointed one bit working with Shelby. Thank you so much, it was just awesome working with you!!

Shelby, at Shine Events Design helped me with some amazing ideas for my wedding, a charm with a sprige of lavendar for my daughters was a huge hit. She came to my venue and set up the arch and it was gorgeous, set up all center pieces and isle florals. My bouquet and my Matron of honors were absolutely gorgeous the boutonnieres were perfect they looked great and lasted the entire day. The best part was I did not have to do anything and she worked with my wedding coordinator as well. It was affordable it worked well within my budget. They came back the next day to pick up the arch. This is day three and flowers look fresh as the day I got them. All the containers for my arrangements were custom made with hand painted designs. WONDERFUL!

I am so glad I decided to get my wedding flowers through Shelby! She did my bouquet, cake flowers, table arrangements, and flowers down the aisles too. At first, I was going to do flowers myself to save money, but quickly realized what a task it is transporting and designing flower arrangements. Shelby talked to me on the phone for a long while to figure out my vision. She was amazing at helping me figure out what my style is and kind of helped me set my whole theme for my wedding. Everything was so romantic looking and beautiful. She’s definitely a pro. We couldn’t be happier!

Shelby, from Shine Event Design is absolutely amazing. My mom and I hired Shelby to do the overall design and floral arrangements for my wedding this October at Salish Lodge, and we were absolutely blown away by the service and results we received. My vision and preferences were entirely realized and Shelby is a gem to work with. She is very responsive, goes above and beyond to ensure everything is perfect, and she is comes up with beautiful, unique, and creative ideas. We were so impressed with everything she brought to the table, and know that my wedding would not have come together without her. Really I can not say enough positive things about my experience. I would 100% hire Shine Event Design for any future events I am in charge of.

Shelby was amazing to work with! Very flexible and the sweetest!!!! She did the all of my flowers (bouquets and boutonnieres) for my wedding! I loved them! they were exactly what I wanted! And I love how she incorporated my mom's lace from her wedding veil onto my bridal bouquet! THANK YOU SO MUCH SHELBY!!! :)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For all of our clients (planning, floral design or decor), our typical process begins with a complimentary consultation via telephone or skype. During this time, we'll discuss your goals for the event including any theme ideas, look and feel, location, venues, budget and timelines. You'll gain a deeper understanding of how we can collaborate to create the celebration of your dreams. After the consultation and we agree to work together, we'll create a scope of work uniquely tailored to your day. Then, the fun will begin. Venue searching, tastings, decor.... we'll get to work searching out the perfect elements and creating unique moments for your upcoming event.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I draw upon twenty years of experience in planning, designing and throwing events of all sizes. Having lived abroad in Paris, Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe, I'm artistically influenced by my travels and participation in cultural celebrations from around the globe. My creative vision is enhanced by my professional strengths of running tight, well organized events, with endless positivity and enthusiasm. I strongly believes that every moment is worth celebrating and love helping our clients bring their celebratory dreams to life!
