Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: There are two different types of makeup: first - you see the person and you say "omg, you look beautiful"; second one - you see the person and you say "your makeup is beautiful". I`m a makeup artist who love to make people beautiful that other will see how gorgeous you are, not your makeup. My style is to create flawless look that doesn't look like you spent hours and hours beautifying yourself, it looks fresh and polished but not overdone. (Of course when we talk about avant-garde and art makeup - it`s different and not wearable, this is whole another makeup world) I love everything about my job, when I look at the makeup products they are like paints for me, I love textures, I mix colors all the time, I enjoy doing makeup and if you ever allow me to do your makeup you will see how easy and fun it is!

I have to say I had the best experience with Katya! i have had many makeup applications around the Eastside and the Seattle area, but Katya's application and art of makeup was outstanding!, I was competing in the NPC bodybuilding Iron Man show and I placed top 5! it was my first show and I need the extra edge of hairstyle and makeup and that's exactly what i got! she arrived on time with the best quality and diversity of makeup. She came at 6 am, from Seattle all the way to Kirkland ready to go and dedicated I felt so great and comfortable! she also followed the hairstyle I needed for perfection! I went to my show feeling flawless and fabulous, and the judges thought so as well! I received so many compliments specifically on my makeup from the eyelashes to the airbrush, and with the bright lights on me for hours not one imperfection throughout the whole day! I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for professional makeup application and hair! she exceeded my expectation.

I really put allot of thought into this review. Unfortunately my experience was less than ideal. I hired Katya for a makeup lesson, to get a few tips (try something new maybe?) and see if I wanted to hire her for my wedding day. I thought a makeup lesson would take an hour, as I've had makeup lessons before and that's pretty standard. So I was expecting it to cost $100. That is what I budgeted for..... My mistake. When we had the lesson she took twice as long as anyone else. It took her 2 HOURS to do my makeup. She chatted, went very slowly, discussed various brushes and makeup, had me repeat what she did on my own face, etc. The end result was decent enough, but I felt a little taken advantage of. I've never had a lesson take 2 hours, and other artists have went over brushes, etc as well so I know it should take about an hour. Anyway, when she was done she looked at her watch and said it took her 2 hours, she charges $100 an hour and it would be $200. Not what I had planned on at all. I had to cough up an extra $100 for the lesson. I couldn't believe I spent $200 for a makeup lesson!! I'm sorry but I did not feel it was worth it at all. Had I realized before she came that it would cost so much I would have canceled and found someone else. Actually, it would have been cheaper to pay for wedding makeup, both a trial run and day of! I should have just paid her for the wedding makeup instead! Would have saved me $20. Oh well, it was an expensive lesson learned, and I will have to do a better job next time of reading fine print, asking questions, making sure the artist knows how much I want to spend in advance, etc. Ya got me, my mistake I should have been on my toes more, I let my guard down that day but it won't happen again.

Hi Alicia, I`m so sorry to hear that your experience with me on April 20th wasn't that good. Maybe it was a communication problem, but I submitted two options for you - makeup application (70$) and my hourly rate for the makeup lesson, I also described the difference saying that during the lesson I teach you how to create the look, what products to use and why, how to hold brushes and you can repeat everything after me, because practicing in makeup is the most important thing. Teaching I have the goal that my client will be able to create the look after without my help and will understand not only what to use, but how and why, I want to share my experience and give my knowledges to the client during the lesson so it`s different from, for example, the makeup lessons at cosmetic counters where usually makeup artist has a goal to sell products after lesson.

Katya was a dream to work with! Professional, punctual, and her skills are amazing. Excellent communication during the planning process to figure out exactly what look I was going for. She uses only the best makeup products and will help you find direction as far as what looks work best for your face shape and facial attributes. I couldn't have been more pleased with the overall experience with Katya and would highly recommend! Elle S.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Bridal consultation, airbrush bridal makeup application, bridal hair styling. Special event makeup application and hair styling. Makeup application and hair styling for the photoshoots, model tests, editorial and fashion shoots. Male grooming, mature makeup. Personal beauty shopping, personal makeup lessons.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If I would look for a makeup artist and hairstylist, I definitely would like to see a portfolio and then would look at the style. Try to ask yourself: does the persons you`re about to hire has a good feeling of the style? Does he/she understand what style means, how put together hair, makeup, clothes and create a beautiful, unique look? Cause if you see something that bothering you in a hole look even if the person you`re about to hire has excellent technique you can get a bad result.
